A true story of an extraordinary feat of an ordinary man.

China on the threshold of the World War II.

A young British Journalist George Hogg, expecting great performances and his friend in the same determined mood find themselves on the territory occupied by the Japanese.

To the deep concern for David's fans the friend dies a hero's death by hand of the Japanese military. The main drama of course lies ahead.

The fate brings together Hogg with nurse Lee Pearson and leader of Chinese Partisans Chen.

Only they help him to understand a very important truth: a great feat is to sacrifice oneself unselfish to people, which have no hope anymore.

And the astonishing trio led by Hogg tries to rescue a group of orphaned and left to the mercy of fate boys from the God forgotten school Huang Shi.
