We are glad to greet you on our site devoted to talented australian actor - David Wenham!
On this page you can get acquainted with the news.

Multinational Wenhamania begins a celebratory marathon and
sincerely congratulates all our residents and guests on the first winter celebration - Catholic Christmas!
Let's decorate our Christmas Tree with the modest ornaments such as the news about the current projects of David.
"Oranges and Sunshine" at last has got the date of release (April 1, 2011 - UK, April 21 - Australia), and the official site. To be honest, the latter does not impress with the special contents, but impresses with the fact of its existence.)) We are waiting for a promised trailer!
After agonising suspense "Killing time" is again included in the official announcements for the 2011 TV Premiere Schedule. All trial problems, which have forced a delay of the release, are safely solved, David's fans are really looking forward to the beginning of real promotion.
At last, the most essential - the new Gallery page - "Pope Joan" - extra: the promised screenshots from the Gift Edition, behind the scenes and the press conference pics. The bonus is a few new premiere photos.
We are going to celebrate for a long time, up to the middle of January in view of the kind Russian tradition.)) So the Christmas miracle still has time to happen. More Christmas ornaments for our Tree are hopefully coming soon!

The Wenhamania Galaxy was shaken by the outburst of Star wars!
Gray-haired David with the faked, bast-like beard manages to keep the form and strikes down with the space force of jedi look.
The formidable light sword in his right hand continues the rout,
the plastic glass in his left hand finishes it,
the graceful and protruding little finger looks like a control shot.
May the kind and healthy humour be with you!
Two trailers of the short film festival Flickerfest-2011 are here. A lovely collection of screenshots is already on its own page.
But David 's fans are still too far from the answer to the most exciting riddle of the passing year: what is next?
As for Wenhamania "next" means a small celebration on the occasion of the Russian release of "Pope Joan"DVD and Blu-Ray Gift Editions.
Every collection includes an original sound, a lot of additional films about shootings and the record of the memorable press-conference in August, 2008.
Taking into account very modest Russian box-office, this release is a New Year's fairy tale, and now the fans of David in Russia know what to ask Santa.
Much more pics from DVD are coming soon.

David's poor fans are lost in guesses: what is next? An intriguing thriller of the creative guys from Brisbane? Unnamed "a Northern Territorian movie" alongside Jack Thompson, David Galpilil and young actor Leon Burchill (here and here)? Or may be the grim Universe of Warcraft?
A blind man would be glad to see. ((
But David is still mysterious, inaccessible and gallant: he shines his smile in the pics and videos of gossip columns. In such a way...
Or like this... And still there is no official word on a new project.
"I'd love to be really independently wealthy, if I had that I'd just keep traveling, go to art galleries throughout the world. I'd be a professional art-gallery-goer", - thus he has frightened us in 2007 at ORC.
Disturbing symptoms:
- 2010, August: the shooting of David's latest project, TV-serial "Killing time", was completed;
Welcome to Russia, David!
Or start a new film, please...)))
And, if it is possible, please, do both...

So Marcus Aurelius did not deign his monarch's attention "Oranges and Sunshine" and galloped off on his horse in another direction. But the echo of the Rome Film Festival will ring for a long time in the minds of fans as the lines of positive reviews:
"The real heroes are the matured deported children trying to find out who they are. They turn the film into a wonderful spectacle, partly thanks to excellent acting of Hugo Weaving and David Wenham - the great actors, who reunite after the experience of "Lord of the Rings" for this much more emotional and dramatic project." (Matteo Berardini "Roma 2010/"Oranges and Sunshine" e "The Canal Street Madam"" (Italian))
"Three impressive performances (Watson, Weaving and Wenham) raise the film to the proper level of trust and empathy" (Antonella Murolo "Oranges and Sunshine - Recensione" (Italian))
And finally the most delicious:
"The most interesting and complex character is Len, played by David Wenham (Faramir in the "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy). Although he miraculously survived the terrible torments of Bindoon, he feels obliged to his kidnappers, who raised him for many years. Only through the strength and devotion of Margaret Len manages to defeat his inner demons ..." (Carolina Bonito "Ladri di vite" (Italian))
Wenhamania becomes a polyglot. Which language will it have to learn next time?)))
Still the victory fanfare are sounding at Wenhamania, this time in honor of "Pope Joan". The film participated in the competition program of the Ojai Film Festival (California, USA) and won the Best Narrative Feature Award. Like it or not, but every movie can find its festival and its reward!
There are news of other projects. "Legend of the Guardians: the owls of Ga'Hoole" announces the release of the DVD and Blu-ray discs, the latter one gladdens fans with additional films, including those involving charming Digger: True Guardians of the Earth: Digger and Modern Family Rico Rodriguez host this fascinating look into the world of owls and why they are counting on you to protect them.
Finally, there are the most valuable and enjoyable news about David in person. Triple thanks to Minkey and Wenham-Wonderland, whose sources continue providing fans with flickering bits of information. Within recent weeks David was like the elusive meteor on gossip columns' radars. Only three his passions - movie, painting and dancing - could make these little wonders.
and at the 2010 Inside Film Awards at the City Recital Hall.
David Wenham, Sigrid Thornton and Erik Thomson arrive at the 2010 Inside Film Awards.
The most fantastic glimpse of the idol has happened just before. Eyewitnesses found David at the Fox Sydney studios during the filming of the trailer for Flickerfest International Short Film Festival. It's nothing special, except for a costume, which makes the most hardened David's fans struggle for breath. It is not known who had the idea to put David in a costume of ... Jedi guru Obi-Wan Kenobi, but many thanks to this creative enthusiast from all our friendly Wenhamania community!
We are waiting for the trailer!

On the dull autumn days it would be nice to get something warm and exotic. Bright sunshine, juicy oranges... Or may be more news from the makers of the film with the same title. The International Rome Film Festival approaches to the end. In competitive program there are some great movies starring Keira Knightley ("Last night ") and Nicole Kidman ("Rabbit Hole"), but one little project attracts attention of Wenhamania's residents, like a flower bed attracts the bees.
Jim Loach, the director of "Oranges and Sunshine", at last has seriously started promotion for his film. In a few selected interviews he gladdens us with the small doses of information about his movie, its plot and director's vision. David's fans already learn by heart this quote from one publication:
"One of the ways that Loach mitigates some of the implied horror in the film is in the character of Len, the boy who survived Bindoon. He is an Aussie male, almost in the Crocodile Dundee mould (played with great charm by David Wenham), and emphatically not a victim. That was very much the reality of a lot of the men that Loach spoke to. "If you offered them pity, they would tell you to f** off. For us that was really appealing, the reverse of what you expect." (Tim Adams: "Jim Loach: 'I directed Coronation Street. For my gran, dad could never top that!'" (The Observer, October 24 2010)
The praising characteristic of David's part and performance is supported by two stills with David and Emily in focus of a camera. The happy fans continue to tick off on their fingers: David already has three scenes in the film! But, please, we want much more...))
David and Emily Watson in the film "Oranges and Sunshine"
The Russian admirers of the owl's story, which earned $8,5 million in Russia, have got one more chance to compare the film and the primary source. The reprinting of the book series by Kathryn Lasky has not disappointed the expectations of the fans. This time the books are united in the collections under the encouraging title "Legend of the Guardians-1" (The Capture, The Journey, The Rescue) and "Legend of the Guardians-2" (The Siege, The Shattering, The Burning).
It looks like the publishers have no doubt about sequel of the saga. It is necessary to hope, that the filmmakers share their hopes. ))
"In The Silence" is the new project of young and successful filmmakers from Brisbane - scriptwriter Trent Dalton (in the pic-on the left) and director Frazer Bailey (on the right). And they promise that David is going to participate in their next film in a double role - the lead actor and producer. Dalton characterizes their plan with an intriguing word "thriller".
"It's about a man who creates a second identity to befriend the man who's sleeping with his wife," - he says meaningly. Hmm Е It sounds very appetizing!
We want to believe, we'll hear about the beginning of this filming much earlier than about its finishing. Unlike the previous creation of the guys...)))

Autumn of Wenhamania is painted all kinds of colours of a festival Rainbow. From different parts of the world we get the pleasant evidences for recognition of David's work. All his last projects are claimed by the thinking audience and the biggest international film forums and competitions give them their wide screens.
The first evidence is the most traditional:"Glenn Owen Dodds" continues its European tour. On the agenda there are
- sunny Spain: the International Film Festival "La Boca del Lobo" (October 20-30) in Madrid:
- hospitable France: ArtCourtVideO Festival in Arles (October 17-22) and Sequence Short Film Festival in Toulouse (November 12-28).
The second evidence is the most long-awaited: it looks like the best time for the American fans of "Pope Joan". The film already is successfully noted at Tacoma Film Festival (Washington) (October 16), and now tries to win Los Angeles (October 22) and San Francisco (October 23) taking part at California Goethe Film Festival.
The reaction of the audience from the other side of the ocean once again proves universality of a female nature:
"The hottie David Wenham who was in the first Lord of the Rings movie was the perfect fit for the role of Gerold. He was honorable and sexy; really he was modeled just for this part". (From the review on the film screening in Tacoma).
The fourth evidence is the hottest: the modest project of the British director Jim Loach, "Oranges and Sunshine", at last, has left a shadow. And it has done it not without effect and not without the praises of the critics. The world premiere of film at the International Film Festival in Busan, South Korea, (October 8-15) was met by the enthusiastic reviews and publications promising a huge resonance. Some lines from them shine like a gold for David's fans:
"An accomplished cast, including strong performances from Hugo Weaving and David Wenham as former deporteesЕ complete the package" (screendaily.com, Darcy Paquet)
"Watson is perfect as the upright, compassionate and fiercely determined champion of victims' rights. Weaving has rarely been better than as the empty Jack, and Wenham brings a sharp edge as the prickly Len. Thesping right down to the bit players is excellent. ". (Variety, Richard Kuipers)
STOP! This is already a pearl! Just one year of the tortures of uncertainty and we already have found out the name of David's character!!!!! What a relief to know that David's character has a name.AND HIS NAME IS LEN!!!
Next week the film will participate in the program of the Rome Film Festival (October 28 - November 5). Next stage is the most prestigious international film-forum - the American Film Market (AFM) (November 3-10). For film with the microscopic budget in $ 4, 5 million it is almost a triumph.
On this occasion Wenhamania at last opens Gallery page of film. Let's keep up with the opinion of the reporters and wait for the news about the release:
And last pleasant news: the team of Wenhamania greets the new members! Welcome, Geale and OxanaAu!
What a great update!
October, 7, 2010
Dazzled with fireworks of the wonderful news and multimedia novelties Wenhamania hardly comes back to rational activity and invites all fans of David to a feast of a loud premiere.
The fourth course - a completely charming plush miracle named Digger, which will be your own if you have a hot desire and the money.
At last, the light dessert - winning box office news: "Legend of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga'Hoole" is # 1 in Russian theatres, having got about $3 300 000 in the first 5 days of the release. Certainly it is much less, than $31 000 000 of film's domestic gross, but it's higher by one point in respect of a rating.
In this spoon of honey there is one large barrel of tar: Russian audience eagerly welcoming a new masterpiece of Zack Snyder hardly realises, how a modest and very talented Australian actor David Wenham concerns this visual magnificence Е
However, in this occasion the sad David's fans are recommended to return to the first course. We think, our eternal feeling of famine and thirst will allow to do it more than once.

There are days, when the emotions fill up Wenhamania, and the fountain of our eloquence cheerfully streams over the edge. But there are days, when our emotions stream over the edge and then this so-called eloquence disappears in their flow. And we have only some warm words:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVID!!!
We prepared the gifts for you by this day, but you have outstripped us: your gift for all your loyal fans just stole the show.
David Wenham at the world premiere of "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" at the Grauman's Chinese Theater on September 19, 2010 in Los Angeles, California.
David Wenham at "Legend of the Guardians" Premiere in Hollywood.
There are no words, we bashfully hide our presents, decorated with the ribbons: they will wait for the best times. Let's simply enjoy the rare moment!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GUARDIANS!!!
The team of "Legend of the Guardians:The Owls of Ga'Hoole" at the premiere of the film.
From left to right: David Wenham, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Jim Sturgess, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Neill, Anthony LaPaglia.
Wenhamania is similar to the archaeology. But David's fan has a computer mouse instead of a shovel, and the depths of a world network instead of the terrestrial depths. Like an archeologist, David's hardworking fan is able to sift the cultural layers of the search engines for many weeks and without the results, and then, suddenly, almost losing the hope for success to dig out an invaluable hidden treasure... to wipe the artifact with the duster and to put it on the most honourable place. And enjoy it, enjoy it like a child.
The top of today's treasures is an unique find, we are grateful for this gift to Nenya from Wenham-Wonderland.
News #1 - the column "The Award has found its Hero".
It was found out, that already for many years the personal award's list of David Wenham includes one more deserved Best Actor prize. The role of a decent and honour Eddie Harnovey from "Three Dollars" was bypassed by the Australian Awards, but the authoritative jury of the International Film Festival in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has not missed it. It happened on January, 2006.
Interestingly, did David know that he became the winner of this competition? Or has he prefered to conceal this trophy from inquisitive eyes of the fans because of his phenomenal modesty?
Anyway, our belated congratulations, David!
It is a worthy film, a worthy role and a worthy job! It's worthy of much more Awards. Alas, Mr. Oscar always looks at the wrong side. However, all of us already have got used to this.
Film Festival...Today it is, perhaps, the only opportunity for David's fans to watch him on the big screen. Joyful news arrive from all side of a planet.
At last, the most long-awaited and tremendous news. The world premiere of the "secret" project of Jim Loach , "Oranges and Sunshine ", starring Emily Watson, David Wenham and Hugo Weaving, will take place at one of the biggest International Film Festivals of the Asian region in Pusan, Southern Korea, next month (on October, 7-15).
Why do we name this film "secret"? But how can we name the project with a "complete" status, which till now does not have neither date of release, nor official trailer, not saying about an actor/character list? That is a virgin land for the archaeology Е Sorry, for Wenhamania.
And as we say in Russia, one who seeks - always finds.
"Oranges and Sunshine": for the present the first and the only movie still with David Wenham.
Digger in the movie and in life. The amazing hit in the type.
Zack Snyder is a master of the big premieres. Hollywood will open embrace for the Guardians today. We have crossed our fingers, that Zack will not forget one of his favourite actors, and David will walk the red carpet at Los AngelesЕ For the archeologists from Wenhamania it would be a red day in the calendar.

Cheer, cheer the Red and the White!
Long live football, which brings joy to everyone. The Sydney Swans have celebrated their victory over the Western Bulldogs at the 21st of august in the 21st round of the Australian Football League games. David Wenham has celebrated the opportunity to watch personally the triumph of his beloved team. Fans of David have rejoiced with the fresh photos of their idol, who visited this memorable match. Perhaps only the Western Bulldogs were not happy. But probably they will be able to rejoice another time!
David at the match Sydney Swans vs. Western Bulldogs, Sydney, August 21, 2010.
The other great player will enter very soon into the battle for the prize of American audience. One more movie #1 at the Italian box office, "Pope Joan", will be screened at several film festivals, including Los Angeles and San Francisco. Long waited news is here.
Alas, it looks like this season the audience won't be able to enjoy the painstaking work of the teams "Killing Time".
and "Oranges and Sunshine". Contrary to the previously stated, the start dates of the projects is finally postponed to 2011.
However, the empty place in fan life of Wehnamania is completed by the enthusiasm of brilliant Zack Snyder. He brings some fresh forces to the field of his current project - one music video and a powerful thriade of new TV spots of coming animated blockbuster from the life of owls - "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole".
It is difficult to resist against such attack. Especially because among of all David Wenham's chameleon guises his current visual and sound image is breaking all his previous records of originality. Enjoy the great update at official site of the film and Digger's personal page with new poster and video.
The impatient fans expect Los Angeles Premiere of the film on Sunday September 19th. And yes! We expect one more perfect game, brilliant goals, and the new wonderful pics certainly. )))
August 19, 2010
That's how everything is mixed in our lives: horror and joy, hope and disappointment. On the one hand - the summer holidays are in the end and it is sad. On the other hand - nightmarish Russian fires are extinguished, acrid smoke dissipates, the tremendous heat abates and, although there is still a threat that we will be gone with the hurricane, only few weeks are left until the fall. And perhaps all these disasters will teach us to appreciate more a kind, snowy, frozen Russian winter?
The same is in the field of Wenhamana. There is always a reason to joy, there is always a reason to mourn. The disappointing news refill the heading "Killing Time".
The premiere is postponed indefinitely, according to the most optimistic forecasts - till the end of October. No, this is not the guilt of filmmakers or TV-producers. The TV-series is ready to meet with the audience and is expected by the public. But one gloomy real story, which is reflected in the plot of the film, quite unexpectedly trips it up: the renewed criminal trial proceedings produced the barrier to the ambitious project. Details can be found here:
The assertive "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" pleased the impatient audience with a portion of new posters. In absence of fresh photos of David the image of Digger strengthens the forces of fans.
Meanwhile, the hard-working director Zack Snyder does not let his fans relax and continues to intrigue them with some hints about the sequel to Spartan saga of sword and sandals "300".
Alas, it's clear that this time it will probably be about a prequel. It seems that the author of the regular graphic novel on ancient themes, Frank Miller, while researching the story, suddenly discovered that he's lost the sight of non less heroic battle that preceded the battle of Thermopylae - a famous battle of Marathon. The new project will be devoted to the history of climbing of the godlike king of the Persians Xerxes, and contrary to the expectations of fans of Jerry Butler and David Wenham, the place of the protagonist in the script is claimed by the ingenious Athenian Themistocles. However, the filmmakers do not hurry to disappoint the audience, and a light veil of secrecy feeds our ambitious hopes.
And finally - a little present from YouTube for the lovers of romance. Another fan video on "Pope Joan".Tides of time under the authorship of VISSIONPLUS. So, we are melting...
Well, any opinions about the glass? Meaning, whatever one may say, is not it half full?))
July 29, 2010
Outside and inside Wenhamania melts from the unbearable heat. There is an African summer outside, thermometers froze at around 40 degrees, and online resources have rained down on David's fans such a feast for the soul, that yet a little while the steam will go from the ears.
David's newest project, the television series "Killing Time" entered the decisive phase of the promotion. The date of the World Premiere has been announced - the 5th of September. Awesome trailers wait for you here and here.
Watched them? What about a cold shower?
Well, then, solemnly cut the ribbon at the new page of our site: the Gallery of screenshots from the trailer ...
Perhaps a cold shower - is not such a bad idea.
However, it certainly would not help Wenamania. To restore our power, we take a little holiday.
Some hotheads just have to be cooled in the sea ...
Hopefully, during our brief separation the heat will subside. We have absolutely nothing against the internal heat, certainly.))) Quite the contrary.
July 19, 2010
Wenhamania is thirsty with the whole planet. It is thirsty in both meanings of the word and ocassionally starts dancing the exotic dance of rain. But the sky remains silent and the search engines behave in the same mean way. Let's summarize the count of the fallen drops:
First drop - the project "Killing Time" finally, 5 month after the announce, got it's own IMDb page. Better late than never.
Second drop - the project "Oranges and Sunshine" got it's soundtrack! At Lisa Gerrard forum it is announced that the singer and composer has finished the work on music for the movie.
Something like a small stream - the project "Legend Of The Guardians" acquired a lot of official posters, each of which is devoted to one of the characters. It is almost impossible to believe in, but David has his own poster now! It looks amazingly original. The whole gallery is here.
Plus, the creators of the film have gladdened the fans with the test screening of the fragments of the film, which took place a few days ago in USA. If you are not afraid of spoilers, you may see the details here and here.
Something like a small fountain - the record of the press conference, which the creators of the film arranged before the beginning of the shooting of "Pope Joan" in August 2008 now is available on the supplement of the German DVD's. Thanks to Gonerill we have an opportunity to add some new screencaps to the collection.
Brooding, mysterious, long-haired handsome fellow with sad eyes is ready to embody the image of the noble and unhappy medieval count.
There is something to think about: still ahead - exhausting workout and kisses in the ice-cold water ... Ice-cold Water? For some reason today it does not sound so awfully as it did the last fall. )))
July 06, 2010
Everything takes its normal course. David in Melbourne is engaged in the shooting of the TV-series "Killing Time" and, as usual, is in the firm belief his fans are not interested in routine details of his working life. As usual, on these days Wenhamania is attacked of gold rush and the smallest grains of information, coming through sieves of search systems, arouse violent enthusiasm. In case of "Killing Time" they are reports of numerous extras, young Australian actors, who can't wait to share with the world their own private joy. Only listen to these happy voices!
Michael Morley: "I have a bit part on David WenhamТs new show "Killing Time" as Detective Lockwood tomorrow."
Carl: "Well, it's been a bit of weird day today. Got up at 3:45am, brain dead, to attend an extras acting gig and the main actor ended up being David Wenham (Faramir from 'Lord of the Rings', Carl in 'Van Helsing' & Dilios in '300'). My extras character was a cop guarding the accused being defended by Wenham in the tiny 'courtroom'. The new series is based on a true story & is called 'Killing Time'."
Trudy Ager: УI just wanted to let you know I have a small part in a 10 part series called 'Killing Time'. I'm playing Ewards wife (played by Neil Melville) and David Wenham is Andrew Fraiser. I don't have any lines, just some laughing and a look of embarrassment which is still fantastic to me. I am doing an 8hr day this Friday and as you can imagine, I'm very excited."
We can imagine, dear Trudy!!! Perhaps, if any residents of Wenhamania would take your place, the director could count on such stupid laugh and such clinical embarrassment, which would be worthy of Oscar!
And that is a real nugget!
Andrew Fraser about David Wenham: "I made the comment the other day, they'll have a fair bit of time with him in the makeup department - uglying him up sufficiently to play me."
Somebody seems to angle for a compliment. However let's ascribe it to a brilliant sense of humor and we hope make-up artists will follow our lead. Read a splendid and outspoken interview with a man, whom David personifies right now in the set of "Killing Time": Interview with Andrew Fraser in Talking Heads (ABC1 14/06/2010)
And today's updating of Wenhamania has concerned the Page Links
Please have a look if you are interested.

We have a pleasant suspicion, that the sensitive and thinking part of the Russian audience has estimated the plot and cinema subtleties of "Pope Joan". Though this audience can not compete in size with the fans of "Shrek", "The A-Team" and "Sex and the City", however reviews of the spectators go from their hearts.
As we have predicted, David wins female half of Russian public and does it just by his efficient exterior.
Lyalya: "David is a separate theme, I was just melting, when I looked at him. He is perfect. He is intolerably perfect!"
belik: "David Wenham is incredibly perfect in this film, and again he has the sword in his hand, the chain armour on his body, long hair on his head and pure love and nobleness in his eyes."
n_aka: "Gerold embodies the dream of all girls of this world about an ideal man. He is incredibly, just extremely handsome, he is noble, he is honest, he is loyal etc., etc.... Please, tell me, did you see such kind of man? Well, go to the cinema then. "
Anasstassssia: "I was pleased by David Wenham, I did not know, that he was in the film. But he looks exactly like image from "The Lord of the Rings ", an ideal choice for this role. He plays the ideal man - protector, he unconditionally devoted his life to her, he refused all ".
Oxanaau: "David Wenham is just WOW! To see Faramir on the screen, practically in the same armour and with the same hairdress - it is a real dream! As to his drama abilities (and Wenham is an actor of undoubtedly huge talent, probably, best actor of his generation), alas, in this film there is too little place for them. A role is small, flat, actor's talent hardly can flash. Well, we have opportunity to admire Faramir once more - it's already fine! "
Neil: "David Wenham... If it is possible for the normal woman to write the OBJECTIVE review of his actor's job in this film? Well, if to take yourself in hands, if to strangle instincts, if to ignore aesthetic taste, if to switch off an overdoing barometer of sensitiveness, if to close eyes to the gorgeous picture, to go blind, to go deaf Е Does anybody know in general, how to do it?"
and so on...
It is less than we dreamed of, but it is more than we expected.)))
Donna Cross:
"The soundtrack is brilliant - everything that I had hoped for. Not only is the music beautiful in itself, but when I close my eyes and listen, I see - in my mind's eye - the scenes I visualized as I wrote my novel. A triumph of composition and a perfect marriage of music with story."
Marcel Barsotti:
"It was a great and wonderful experience to be part of this project. I am almost a bit sad that this musical journey has come to an end."
At last the turn of the newest David's character. A fresh trailer of a hotly expected hit "Legend of the Guardians" and video-interview of the director Zack Snyder bombard the audience by a series of new fragments from film. The abundance of the staff with the character of David, burrowing owl Digger, impresses not less, than abundance of his lines, sounding in clips.
The new guise of chameleon-like Wenham is perfect as never before!
Hmm, the today's updating has turned out rather multimedish. Let's fix this impression with one more update.
Wenhamania has a good mania - a constant modernization and perfection. And just today we have finished cosmetic repair of Video page. We wish you a pleasant viewing!
June 7, 2010
Dear residents and casual guests of our site!
Wenhamania congratulates you from the bottom of the heart on an imperceptibly crept summer!
So this regular miracle known in Russia as "a small life" has come: the sky rose higher, the horizons widened, the air heated, the earth got saturated with the aromatic greenery and our old good hope on a turn for the better got the next beautiful frame, decorated with seashells. Shall we be happier? In any case, the hope's frame is very nice! )))
Let's celebrate the summer with a couple of welcome news.
The news Number One on the agenda is "Pope Joan" in Russia. Just a few days separates the country from the premiere and happy promotion's signs give comfort to Wenham's fans' souls. On June the 1st TV channel "Russia-1" in the program "Russia's Morning" announced the film premiere with a short but very positive reportage about film shooting and, although reporters didn't deign to include in the reporting an interview with the leading actor, a splendid close-up of Gerold in the flickered episode was worth previous almost three minutes of dithyrambs to other project's participants. Let's watch it here!
Plus one more pleasant small thingЕThe date of premiere is changed again!... But this time it is brought forward for the full two days))) The premiere film show will take place in Moscow on June the 8th already. For the quickest lucky bargees there is a chance to get free tickets for this show, if they will do the sophisticated competition tasks of the site Cosmo on-Line. Let's fight here!
The others we are inviting to look forward to premiere solemn and lyric tune, admiring a fan masterpiece. Undoubtedly staggering musical video by "Pope Joan" motif from stowasser1! After that the last skeptic will run to the cinema! Let's melt just here! )))
The news Number Two - the running David's project, TV series "Killing Time" and its shooting going its own way. We have a magical regularity: every month, on the 24th we get the usual portion of information about the project in the form of press release. This time a film producer, Jason Stephens, has given a huge interview. Everybody, who wants to know, how it is going on in the set of the film and what perspectives its creators are planning - read here!
It's rather just unbelievable, but this time the film premiere probably would be not postponed. "Pope Joan" will be screened at Russian theatres in two weeks. It's just the right time for choosing the nearest cinema and booking the tickets for the premiere.
Even a cursory glance is able to squeeze from the Net some drops of a balm for wounded souls of Russian fans: the film will be shown widely enough all over the country and involves the biggest cinemas net - Five Stars,KinoMax,Very Velly,Luxor,Cinema World and other. In sum 850 film copies were produced.
For Moscow's and Moscow area inhabitants there is a big use in trying to struggle for a place in the first rows of viewers. Serious competitions for film and history experts are waiting them here and here. A prize for the cleverest and quickest is a free visiting of the premiere.
Alas, nothing is pointing to the participation of film creators and stars in the Russian premiere. Especially David's participation. That is not the enquiry he is very busy in the shooting of the TV-series "Killing Time". Only Russia seems to be just a little and ordinary country to reckon on his visiting us. But how could we welcome him!!! As you would say, giving a cordial welcome, at full scaleЕ
But better off we go from dreaming to pleasant actual news.
A mysterious and "top secret" project "Oranges and Sunshine" (a Russian underground name - "Land flowing with milk and honey") step-by-step continues to give away its nice secrets. It has come recently to everybody's knowledge that one of the cult Australian composers and singers, Lisa Gerrard, is charged with the soundtrack to the film. Lisa Gerrard had become world-famous and got Golden Globe for her phenomenal music and singing in a legendary "Gladiator", With great pleasure we would remind you how it looks and sounds.
Beyond the shadow of doubt the music to a new film will maintain the level, more by token that according to reports, well-known children rights advocate Lisa Gerrard considers as a great honor her participating in a project, touching such an acute subject.
Meanwhile, the working process is going its own inconspicuous way. Only a thread-like trickle of information struggles through a veil of silence. It comes to us from the already appeared sources. Not long ago Matt Nettheim, one of the participants of shooting in Australia, the author of the only production photo, having been published earlier, had shared his thoughts and observations with us in his blog. During his trip to Britain, he succeeded to visit a small and modest studio of Jim Loach (director) and to be convinced of the project going to its end. (see photo). "My timing was good in that, - reports Matt. - I was able to view an assemblage of one scene from the film, absolutely beautiful and very emotional, that confirmed my feelings that this will be a stunning film."Е
In any case, its creators have already managed to stun potential admirers, gently protecting a mist, covering names of characters played by the leading actors.

Saying and doing are two different things. The Russian distributors of "Pope Joan" spoiled Wenham-fans the joy, having deprived them of the possibility to watch the film for the first time on the big screen. However it looks like the distributors couldn't bereave us of the festival at all. On May, 19th, at a Moscow cinema "Orbita" a long-expected film press screening took place. Actually it was already the third "Pope Joan" screening in Russia. Earlier the film took part in the programs of the 81st Russian International Movie Market (on March, 4th) and the Festival "Midnight Art-Mainstream" (in the night from April 30th to May 1st).
For every thinking viewer the situation regarding this film seems to be, to put it mildly, absurd. Constant postponing of the release kills enthusiasm of the prospective audience, the official film premiere is outrun by a free sale of Russian-language DVD and in addition to that the project has lack of the advertising support: all the heroic attempts of law-abiding fans to find in the Net the inviting to visit the cinema run against voiced by tens of sites proposal just to download the film. Is the destiny of the Russian "Pope Joan" distribution worth to discuss?
If only it would be so!! Considering the fact that our future watching the film version in the format of TV mini-series depends from the distribution destiny. German audience will get the TV- version of "Pope Joan" at year-endЕThere is an occasion to dream, there is after all an occasion to visit a cinema and not only one time in order to strike with enthusiasm the heartless businessmen of cinematography.
In addition to the topic - a nice trait, worthy of attention a creative approach of Dutch distributors to the film.
Against the background of monotonous posters and DVD-covers, ignoring the fact of participation in the film of Australian heart-throb, David Wenham, offered for sale in the Netherlands DVD impresses by its originality. Originality isn't the thing, of what Russian language playbills and covers can boast (((
Meantime the other recent project of David - the short film "Glenn Owen Dodds" continues to feel well. The last festivals in Romania and in the USA (Newport) didn't bring traditional awards, however there will be the most prestige competitions in the future, where pushy "Glenn" is planning to come into his own.
Today we bring to your attention a deep excursus to the history. A parade of the early David's works: fleeting episodes (Jack Simpson, Poor Man's Orange, Come in Spinner, Greenkeeping, Idiot Box, No Escape, Dark City), soap-operas and TV mini-series (Heroes, GP, Police Rescue, Country Practice, Twisted Tales, Return to Jupiter) and short films (Tran the Man, Red Dress, Roses Are Red).
And this is a hard way of a skinny exhausted red-haired, and very talented boy from the working-class outskirts... to the stars. Read the synopsises of the films, watch the pics.
The hot Australian weekdays came to replace the hot Australian summer. April was traditionally filled with events and intrigue.
On April the 15th the radiant Sun - David was shining at the opening party of the Melbourne hotel "The Olsen", a splendid and stylish sample of the family Deague Art Series Hotel Group. Accordingly to promises of the company, each of them will be dedicated to the most outstanding modern Australian painters.
Thereby "The Olsen" pays tribute to creative work of landscape artist John Olsen. While the hero of Archibald 2000, the author of David's much-talked-of portrait, Adam Cullen has already got his own name-hotel. Was anybody surprised having seen David among the VIPs of the party?
Luxurious views of the hotels and information is here.
On April the 23d David, without a twinge of conscience, embarrassed his admirers with his sudden appearance in the office of the film company Fremantle Media.
On April the 26th, at last, to his fans' joy, he stepped under a camera sight on the set of his new project ("Killing time"), wherewith attracted attention of delving into every detail journalists, opening a publication season about the series shooting.
However, this news cannot be compared with a new round of a blockbuster "Deadliest Warrior: David Wenham vs. Drew Skye". On April the 20th the American channel Spike-TV started the second season of a much-talked-of show "Deadliest Warrior", in comparison with which gladiators' fights of the Roman Empire time look like a children party. The unquestionable fun of the fair will be the episode, when Vlad The Impaler will meet ancient Chinese thinker and strategist Sun Tzu in the deadliest duelЕ However, the episode "KGB vs. CIA" will be not less interesting.)))
The arguments over the person of Narrator flare up with a new power. As usually the titles of the program credits mysterious Drew Skye, while the main part of audience either openly credits David or with meaning gives a wink at his side. The authors of the show bashful keep silence and meanwhile all the attempts to find the information of a genius David's voice imitator end with startling result. This is the most completed information about Drew Skye, being found in the Internet. Are you impressed? Well, viva the intrigue!
After all these horrors and excitements we need urgently a gulp of fresh air. Notably, a little bit of sentiment. There is the most agreeable and unexpected surprise for the Wenham-fans from the YouTube resident FaramirSylt. This would be a perfect person to be appointed as a director of "Pope Joan". Let's see and melt!
P.S. And to fix the effect for these, who suffer from the lack of romance in the heroic David's films))) It looks like a long expected screen cap of the deleted wedding scene from The Return of the King. Indeed, who seeks, that always finds!
April 30, 2010
A rush season began for David Wenham. From April 26th in Melbourne cameras roll on the set of "Killing the time", the most impressive project of Australian TV this year. Excited actor considers his new job as "one of the great challenges of his career":
УVery rarely in an actor's life do you come across a script that reads so well that you just have to do it... This has only happened a couple of times before. ItТs there on the page and it's up to us to make it the extraordinary piece of TV it deserves to be. There is an energy and momentum behind this story that I haven't come across in Australian TV before. (Read more: David Knox "David Wenham stars in Killing Time" (TV Tonight, 24.02.2010); Darren Devilyn "Legal eagle flying high" (Herald Sun, 28.04.2010))
Not long ago, arousing admiration of Wenham-fans, TV1 has announced a list of main film characters and actors, which form a worthy company to David. By good tradition there is the cream of Australian screen elite and David's old true colleagues among them: Colin Friels ("Cosi"), Kris McQuade ("Roses are red", "Better than sex"), Kerry Walker ("Cosi", "Moulin Rouge!", "Australia"), and John Brumpton ("Gettin' Square").
Good Awards news continues to come: "Pope Joan" has got two awards "Jupiter" of the most respectful German magazine "Cinema" - to The Best national director and The Best national actress.
And "Glenn Owen Dodds" won Audience Favorite Award at Aspen Shortsfest. One more big prize! It looks like somebody has to give up his place:
Wenhamania celebrates this great events with a ceremonial cutting-off of the ribbon! At your service some new pages in the section Filmography now.
April 16, 2010
Long expected happy news from Germany.
On the eighth of April "Pope Joan" came to the fans on their small screens.
The German film distributor offers a wide range of choice: DVD, Blue-Ray and Premium edition on two Blue-Ray disks and on one DVD.
Meanwhile it has come to our knowledge that in the nearest future "Pope Joan" will pull in to David's father's shore. The film will take part in Australian festival of German films, which is set for the end of April - beginning of May. In any event, the full house for the film is sure here!)))
Sonke Wortmann, the director of the film, is full of enthusiasm. He is going to represent his creation in Australia by himself. And he has huge plans regarding David:
"I am very much looking forward to Australia! David Wenham, who is based in Sydney, promised me to show me around his hometown. But David and I have another common goal in 2010: We are at this stage making moves to see the opening match of the Football World Cup in South Africa. Germany and Australia will play this match on 13 June in Durban, and we just have to be there! We will also be there when both sides face each other again in the Grand Final!"
Well, it would be a historical match! At last for all fans of "Pope Joan"! )))
In a Russian-speaking net appeared a first attempt to justify such a later date of the Russian premiere. Hem... We can only guess, if Russian film-distributors really suppose that the viewer, who is watching such films as, excuse me, "Kick-ass" or "The Ironman" comes to see without fail a film like "Pope Joan". Bile... a month ago after a first shock it is still trickling from offended Wenham-fans.
A delayed film release deleted automatically another important event, connected with this film - a new publication of Donna Cross' book. The number of bestseller's copies has risen and, what has a special importance for David's admirers, the book is illustrated with pictures from the expected film. Patience! Somewhere these tortures may have an end!
But right now we have something special for all long-suffering David fans: an impressive update of the hottest Page of Wenhamania. Welcome to the Portrait Gallery of the most bright spot of Dark Ages - a noble, handsome and brave knight Gerold.
In Dark and Modern Ages. The thinking woman`s crumpet, isn't he?
Please, be careful, a lot of SPOILERS!

A severe diagnosis of Wenhamania is "The Great Depression".
Let's begin a regular rehabilitation session of news therapy. Today we are going the Filmography down.
The furore of an English-language trailer of Zack Snyder's coming hit has in a solid way consolidated its position in a Russian - language network. With full understanding and enthusiasm we are going to see a dubbed cartoon trailer. Isn't it invigorating?
After a raging success at festivals in France and Australia the film filmmakers are going to assault Hollywood. The movie is allowed as one of hundred competitors to the participation in Aspen Film Festival of short films, which takes place from 1st of April to 11th of April in the USA. Our favourite is included in the Third Program of the competitions and will be shown on the screen on April the 7th.
A new (and we hope an ultimate) date of the Russian premiere is given on the site IMD. Alas, a historical experience shows that it isn't guaranteed, but it works as a nominal consolation very good. Meanwhile our foreign friends give a report on this film having deserved a whole handful of nominations to a prestige German Movie Award "Lola": The Best sound, The best design, The Best costumes, The Best supporting actress (Jordis Triebel - Gudrun, Joan's mother)ЕAnd be happy with that.
A grandiose success of "Avatar" and a potential success of "Legend of the Guardians", which were shot in a fabulous format 3D, emboldened producer Zack Snyder to a thought of a possible second release of "300". Wow! A tempting perspective to see David, so to say "in full-length and in full-size"Е For many of us it could be the only chance. However, on the other handЕ monsters, freaks, chopped heads and streams of blood will be in "full-length" tooЕ What will overcome? Our love to David or the aversion for violence? Nevertheless we always have an alternative. We could, so to say, close our eyes at the most abominable scenes. Well, let there be "300" in a format 3D!
The festival topic changes unexpectedly and pleasantly. This year the program of the regular Australian film festival in Moscow, "The Film of an Other Continent" (24-28 March) to an unexpected joy of the Russian-speaking Wenham fans turned out to be rich in the film, with which David's screen career steeped rise. The screening took place on the 27 of March in the cinema "Chudoshestvenny". Whether Russian viewers could appreciate a rare talent of the actor with an ineradicable nickname "Faramir", seeing him in a horrible image of Brett Sprague. At any case, they got a chance...
The sixth procedureЕ fixing: Our Gallery and our Fanwork. A spring inspiration is contagious. We invite you to appreciate creative works, art style and enthusiasm of our nice forum-mates.
And an indispensable gallery new acquisition! A selection of excellent photos. An absolute leader of all possible Wenhamania's ratings. The nicest, most charming, most charismatic character from David's record of service, disheveled, relaxed, universal, manly, tender, funny, reliable, unpredictable, ironical, well-read, in short, a dream and "sex symbol" of normal clever women - legendary Diver Dan from "SeaChange".
Well, what about it? Do you feel better?
24 February 2010
At last long-expected news have come!
According The Daily Telegraph David will play fallen Melbourne lawyer Andrew Fraser in one of the biggest TV-projects of the year called Killing Time. The leading role, very strong story, 10-part television series... Is it a sweet dream for the hungry fans, who have tired to claim that David deserves the best part? No! It looks like a sweet true.
Would you like to compare the original and his image?
We know it sounds a little cruel, but we can not hold our emotions of joyful anticipation. Russian fans of David are full of enthusiasm about the forthcoming premiere of his film УPope JoanФ (Die Papstin) (in Russian translation it is called "Joan - the woman on the Pope's throne". Please, don't laugh!)
We wait for the premiere in full readiness. We already have the russian-language book...
And less than in six weeks the russian-language film will be shown on all screens of the country!
Welcome to Russia, УPope JoanФ!
Long live the friendship and the cultural cooperation between Russia and Germany, which is getting stronger every day! ))) (We wish the same to all DavidТs fans in every country of the world!)
And some news about the site. Today English-language part of Wenhamania has been filled with more than ten pages of Gallery. The most colourful and unforgettable projects of the last decade the fantastic actor's range of David Wenham.
And if you want to know the members of Wenhamania's team by their names and to send us your wishes - please, visit our Feedback.
7 February 2010
Dear friends, thank you for visiting our Wenhamania. We must apologise for lack of hospitality. It is not in Russian traditions to meet guests with an icy silence. But still it is more than a year since the English part of our site has been updated last time.
You will see our excuses if you enter the russian-language part of the site from the Main page. You will discover the impressive world of Russian Wenhamania Ц about a thousand pages devoted to our favourite actor: synopsises of his films and performances in the Filmography section, hundreds of russian-translated articles in the sections Publications, Gallery, Quotations,Fanwork and many other things.
We would be glad to get an estimation of our english-speaking friends and to share our news and thoughts with them. But the process of creation of English part of the site is delayed because of some objective reasons. And at the moment we are ready to present to you only a few sections: About site,Biography,Quotations, Guest book and some pages of Gallery. Nevertheless we value your attention very much. And we promise you to fight for it!)))
