This is a really classic example of an audience success.
This TV-series is the Australian record-holder. It got 25 Logie Awards for 13 seasons, audience of 2,5 million Australian on the peak of popularity and the international recognition (the show was sold in 108 countries).
It seems only to be presenting a workaday routine of a common police station in a small provincial town. To be sure, the town is special. It was overwhelmed by increase of crime: murders, escapes from prison, seizure of hostages, bank-robbery... One day malefactors even managed to blow up the police station! In addition to those there were implacable conflicts with the higher organs, which are ready without any cause to liquidate a heroic station, and moreover dramatic every day family collisions of the brave myrmidons of the law... The question is when is time to be bored and to relax?
David visited twice this tremendous of raging of criminality town. As it should be in different guises. And it was in such a way.
♦ The Folly of Youth
Season 1, Episode 37
1994
Some years ago Will Cassidy had the reputation for a local star - a clear head, sportsman and simply a nice fellow.
But a terrible car accident in a moment cancelled the past, the present and the future. Will let himself roll down and only his good-hearted parents believe in anything good in the boy.
The policemen have some doubt in that. In that way, when two girls disappeared in the town, with one of them Will was noticed the day before, all the suspicions fell upon him.
A good name is easy to loose. To get it back is more difficultЕ
... One more uneasy embittered boy, on which everybody tries to pin everything... Evidently David did it well.
