John Murdoch wakes up in an unknown hotel, in the middle of an unknown city in which evidently never comes the morning.
It could be worse! John realizes to his horror that he remembers nothing about himself. People surrounding him are informed much better: a woman, which insists to be his wife, a mysterious "doctor", policemen, having declared John a homicidal maniac and, the most dreadful - the mighty persons, named "strangers", who control everything in this surprising place.
In short John has " to recall everything" and settle scores with all bad guys, until they don't settle scores with him.
It's so typically for most of his early Hollywood films: David appears only for a minute in a very strange guise as an assistant of mysterious "Dr. Schreber".
In actual fact this "assistant" turns out to be an alien, such as the rest of a sinister skinhead brotherhood in this movie.
And is this a way to star too? Not even make doubt!
