Wenhamania's Mood: Big time trouble and a little bit of mystery

"I'm in a stew ..."
"I'm overwhelmed with my work ..."
"I don't have time ..."

These cries were heard on Wenhamania in the recent months.

The work, work, work, lots of work, a bit of the holidays, work again, a bit of illness and we continue to work ... Zeitnot. Beautiful word.))) But it's not mystical at all, it's real. It's real too much sometimes.

- And where is mystery here? - You ask.

Well, you must know, the members of our fan community found out the following consistent pattern: as soon as a new member openly declares the passionate commitment to Wenhamania (by the way, greet Mglars-Kotka, the new editor, reviewer and co-author of the news page!), a cataclysm in the form of nonnormalized job falls on one's head.

It's like the crucible of the Universe: prove your loyalty!

So it was before. But we stood firm on the labor front, not retreating and not giving up. Only sometimes we had the evening pass for Wenhamania ... Okay, okay, and there was AWOL, too ...)))

And who can blame us for this!

Ultraviolet light is good for health. True, sometime we didn't explicitly get it enough - our Sun was hidden in lazy clouds... It was, it was, mr. Wenham! And you can't deny it!

And then Wenhamania resounded with the loud whisper and the quiet cries: "David! Start to work!".

And passionate prayers were offered up, "Well, at least one part! Supporting role! Well... well, at least the voice acting! ".

At last it's happened...

What is this? Now mr. Wenham is in time trouble? The new update is bursting at the seams with an abundance of news: the announcements of new projects - the shootings - the premieres - announcements - shows - shootings - announcements - more announcements - more shows - and announcements ... STOP!

What does that mean?

Bold idea drills a sleepy brain of admin: David, did you find us by chance in your wanderings on the internet? It is very likely that you has caught "the Curse of Wenhamania"!

What a mess! What luck!

However, it's enough flooding otherwise we won't end till morning.

ABOUT LOCKED AND UNLOCKED SECRETS, OR ALWAYS ASK FOR MORE TO GET AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT

Well, an year has passed and the promised premiere of "TOP OF THE LAKE" is at the threshold. It's announced that the mini-series will be released in the coming March on TV-screens, but some people will be lucky to discover all its mysteries much sooner.

The filmmakers are announcing widely and loudly over the internet an unprecedented and bold experiment: a seven-part series will debut during the Sundance Film Festival taking place in Park City Utah, the U.S., January 20, 2013.

It is hard to say, whether the viewer will be frightened of such experiments on his endurance, but it is clear that Madame Campion feels very confident and she still doesn't hurry to attract audiences with new details of the plot, the stills, or even a trailer (It hardly fits, isn't it?).

Here's what we knew about the project at the beginning of the production.

Here's what we know about it a month before the film's release.

Encouraging differences.

12-years pregnant poor Tui still stands in the frozen waters of the lake, Elisabeth Moss, inexperienced detective, loses herself to find the missing child, Peter Mullan is a bad father and a successful drug lord, Holly Hunter is a guru of the camp of aging women, David Wenham is a local cop with no name and characteristics.

Alas, for the year Wenham-fans failed to add any details to this modest list. It should not be the best indicator for such a big and ambitious project.

Though, in the end, in all honesty - it's all the same for us, because the most important point is present here and it consists of two words, melting on fan's tongue like a sugar cube.

Plus, not all the unlocked secrets can bring relief.

For example, the cast of the first directorial project of David is not a secret any more. Baptism of fire of the new director took place a few days ago, 11 December.

But "THE TURNING" of David into the screenwriter and director has saddened some Wenham-fans: "We won't see him ..." ((( One can only hope that the other side of the Sun is not like the other side of the Moon and shines no less brightly!

Anyway, the radiant glow on the screen will be ensured by the names of Wenhamania's A-list - Cate Blanchett, Miranda Otto, Susie Porter and a mega-star and just a nice guy - Hugo Weaving in David's own segment "Commission".

To get such a big star of the world cinema for the directorial debut... it's not just #success, it's # triumph. Definitely there is something special about it - a happy omen, fate or just friendship. Maybe it's a sign of quality?

Having learned that the premiere of "The Turning" will take place at the Melbourne International Film Festival next summer, Wenham-fans, who are packing their bags, immediately send their requests with the secret dreams to the Department of Desire of the Universe: "Please let it coincide with the season of "THE CRUCIBLE"! Is it too much? "

But, in the end, our chances to see David strolling down the red carpet of the MIFF between the performances at the MTC, will be almost equal to his chances to do it.

It looks like David wants to pump up of his fans for the summer theatrical premiere: at the ceremony of announcing the new MTC season in last August the enigmatic actor began his throne speech with the sudden confession:

It turns out that during his first coming in "The Crucible" 25 years ago, he drew wrinkles on his forehead in order to his sinister Danforth seemed older and more solid.

John Proctor, the courageous specimen of 2013, doesn't need such makeup, of course. And it makes him just a little bit more attractive. But, certainly, this is not a great secret. Sorry, mr. Danforth.

SOMETHING ABOUT THE POLARITY OF BEING, OR WHO SAID THAT YOU CAN'T STEP IN THE SAME RIVER TWICE?

Truly the coming year will be the year of memories and refutations of this conventional adage.

Last fall the artistic triumph of Andrew Fraser was confirmed by Australian Channel Seven , which let loose the criminal-psychological drama "KILLING TIME" into the world beyond the pay-TV.

The audience was bombarded with new interviews and reviews in addition to the irresistible charm of the scandalous and controversial lawyer.

The critics speechified:

Andrew Rule: "Wenham makes a meal of Fraser's unblinking depiction of himself." (Herald Sun, The rise and fall of lawyer for the rich and infamous Andrew Roderick Fraser, 05.10.2012)

Darren Devlyn: "Wenham took on the role of Fraser in Killing Time, which ranks as one of the most outstanding local TV productions in years." ї (National Features, David Wenham's killer performance, 09.10. 2012)

Graeme Blundell: "Tough writing holds little back while David Wenham, who plays the former hot-shot lawyer, is scathingly convincing." (The Australian, Killing Time, 21.10. 2012)

Tim Elliott: "Wenham weaves his typical magic here, making Fraser slimy yet sympathetic, a man so blinded by hubris you want to give him a guide dog." ї (smh.com.au, 14.10.2012)

Stephen Matchett: "David Wenham, in the lead role, is superb, all blokey bonhomie as his life unravels." (The Australian, Crime's true grit, 29.10.2012)

Andrew and David exchanged civilities:

Andrew: "The casting of David Wenham as me is inspired. He has nailed me. ... (here) I think he's done a terrific job, I really do, and I'm glad he's played it very much warts and all - he certainly doesn't pay me too many accolades along the way! It's a redemption story but there's no holds barred, and it's pretty hard hitting." (here)

David: "I don't think Andrew's an evil man. People can have opinions about what he's done, but being a defence lawyer in a criminal world is always going to be a very grey area because you are dealing with people who are dubious most of the time," he says. "The waters really did get murky with Andrew. That world, even from an outside perspective - and this is why the true crime drama genre is so successful - you can't help but be intrigued by that." ( here)

Glossy magazines did their work well.

The audience did not remain in debt:

@ Amber903: 15 minutes until Killing Time on Channel 7. David Wenham is so good I'm gonna watch it again!

@ broca002: Having already seen it on Foxtel would definitely recommend#KillingTime David Wenham is outstanding.

@ petstarr: Julian Assange vs David Wenham = I know who wins my Sunday night. #killingtime #cantwait

@ hoodooguru81: How bloody cool is David Wenham? Terrific portrayal of Andrew Fraser in Killing Time.

And just epic, worthy to be Wenhamania's epigraph:

@ ShuraTaft: David Wenham really is the David Wenham of our generation#geniusactor #killingtime

Perhaps finally this fireworks has strengthened David's idea that a lawyer's potential wasn't exhausted yet. And he once again agreed to put on lawyer's insignia in late October, when the shooting of his next mini-series called "BETTER MAN" modestly and without pomp was started in Melbourne.

The fans, who accustomed to the idea that David never repeats himself, take a deep breath: though his new character wears a wig and robe, he takes the start thousands of light-years away from Andrew Fraser, from the exterior to ending motivation.

Meet another Melbourne lawyer - Julian McMahon, honest and humble man, a good Catholic, a selfless outcasts defender and a staunch opponent of the death penalty.

A four-part TV drama will tell the audience one more genuine Australian story in the spirit of "Bangkok Hilton" with the correctives of realism and controversial assessment of raised problem.

This time the film's main character - a young Vietnamese Australian man, Van Nguyen - was a real drug trafficker, who was caught red-handed and sentenced to death in Singapore. The fight for the life and death of Man became the clash of two irreconcilable positions - the typically eastern retributive severity and Australian humanism.

This struggle has split Australian society into the ruthless and uncompromising supporters of comeback and Right to Life Advocates. In the first rows of the altruists there is David's new character, one of the founders and active members of The Mercy Campaign, fighting for the preservation of lives of Australian citizens, which were sentenced to death for crimes outside the country. And that's how this fight looks in practice.

For poor Nguyen it ended in defeat. The guy was executed in Singapore in 2005, but many people have found his story quite instructive for the mini-series. A young and talented Vietnamese-Australian director Khoa Do rolled up his sleeves, the cast was completed by the great Australian stars - Bryan Brown ("Australia") as Lex Lasry, colleagues of Julian McMahon and Claudia Karvan as on-screen wife of David.

Lasry and McMahon in life and on screen.
(Well, we guess why David prefers glasses now. The portrait likeness is a very important thing. Well, we have not objections against the red tie either.)

Alas, such a high-profile names didn't help to break the defense of silence set up around the production. Only occasional remarks of the bystanders occasionally flies over its impregnable walls.

Thanks to young actor Luke McMahon (namesake or relative of new David's character?) for catching our humble hero in mid-November at the Melbourne pub during a break from filming and sharing his joy with us.

DidnТt we get used to catch such crumbs? Of course, the chances to hear something about the filming are directly proportional to its budget, but we already know from bitter experience that in the case of David even this does not work. Apparently, it's just our karma.

However, we should not complain of karma - the torment of uncertainty has cleaned it thoroughly. So the coming year promises Wenhamania a lot of impressions and adventures: according to the announcements David should start it between Saros Bay and the Dardanelles and finish it somewhere between the coast of the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats.

Wenham-fans still rejoice of his unexpected theatrical choice, which brought us back in the days of David's youth. But suddenly it turned out that David has planned another visit into his past for next year! This time it will be his cinematic past.

On the agenda is the story, which became the reason one of the first David's screen appearances: about AustraliaТs best-loved military hero, Private JACK SIMPSON, who laid down in Turkish ground, drenched with the blood of victims of the Battle of Gallipoli WW I (1915-1916), but before it he pulled out of the battle 300 wounded soldiers on his shoulders or on the back of his little donkey.

Private Jack Simpson is dear to every Australian patriot, as a cornerstone of the Anzac legend, fastening spirit of the brotherhood of soldiers. And it seems that the Australians are determined to make this guy a worldwide hero on the eve of the good round figure.

This is particularly dear story to David, because his long journey through the big and small screens started from УJack SimpsonФ 25 years ago.

He was beginning as the wounded soldier rescued by the heroic stretcher bearer. It was a very small part, so the filmmakers did not even bother to mention the actor in the credits.

Now things have come full circle. Justice triumphs: David got the role of the person who made the legend of Simpson.

Meet Charles Bean, a war correspondent, a brave soldier and a historian - another real hero, and chronicler of the great battles of the World War I.

Actually life of Bean is a legend itself and deserves a separate movie, but the choice of actor for this role in the story of Private Simpson canТt be more remarkable.

The creators of the new "Simpson" thrown into the battle the heavy artillery.

In addition to David as Charles Bean there are our old friend Bryan Brown as commander of Australian Division at Gallipoli, Sam Neill ("Molokai: The Story Of Father Damien", "Stiff") as the field hospital's Captain and Don Hany as the leader of the Turkish War of Independence - Ataturk, who also found a place in the film about Australian hero.

They promise to start shooting at the beginning of the coming year, and we want to believe that the role of the Dardanelles will be play the Dardanelles, not the Yarra River. This means that David will also have to pack his bags and move in our hemisphere for a while.

Turkey... it's just a stone's throw away from Moscow! Okay, itТs only four-hour flight. But you see, itТs good reason to disturb Department of Desire of the Universe once again.)))

From the fields of the Battle of Gallipoli through obscurantism of Salem witch trials - in August David will go to India to comprehend the polarity of being together with his new character - Robert, the deathly ill sculptor who finds the meaning of life and a new love in next Paul Cox film "THE FORCE OF DESTINY" .

At a recent press conference in Kerala, Paul Cox, the chairman of the international jury for the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) admitted that he initially wanted to shoot his film in China, but coming to India, he changed his mind and decided to shift the location here. Consequently, the ladylove of the leading man automatically converted from Chinese into Indian woman ... Hmmm .... It's long time till August... dear friends. Maybe, Paul should visit Russia as well. But in the end, one more application to Department of Desire ....

REVOLUTION ON THE AUSTRALIAN WAY, OR LET THE DREAMS COME TRUE!

Rebellious vibes pierce time and space. History is going around and walloping ignoramuses. But there are always ignoramuses!

In Russia the rebel prisoners protest against the abuses of the prison guards, and in Australia at the stage of the cultural center Carriageworks in Redfern (Sydney) David Wenham reads the excerpts from the keen message by the desperate beating former Australian convict, Laurence Frayne, whose voice sounds so modern from the depths of barbarity centuries that someone could wonder how far humanity has gone on the path of civilization.

Is it far enough in order that the process became irreversible?

December 2, The History Channel showed its new documentary film "THE PEOPL SPEAK," which brought together the top stars of Australian screen, including David Wenham, Sam Worthington ("GettinТ Square"), Jack Thompson ("Australia") and Chris Haywood ("Molokai: The Story Of Father Damien").

The authors have created a striking literary and musical canvas, the powerful anthem to the free thought and the free speech. The great Australian rebels of past spoke in modern voices, and their impassioned speeches don't need in special translation. See for yourself here.

David Wenham in УThe People SpeakФ

The revolutionary passions were poured off through the TV-screen. In late October a nice story has flown round the media space of Australia. It can be called simply "THE STORMING OF SYDNEY TOWN HALL."

The storming column, consisting of hundreds of angry parents with crying kids, headed common favorite - David Wenham, who over the years had become not only a great actor, but also a great father.

From Russia frozen in every sense of this word, Sydney Riot looks like touching picture from another planet: moms and dads resented the lack of proper attention of the residents of the Sydney Town Hall to the problems of children's playgrounds.

"I wished I could bottle my daughterТs delight when she had learned of the playground plan for the park at Fitzroy Gardens." ((с) David Wenham) - Such a good speech made an impression on the Australian officials. Any legal rigor is powerless against this enthusiasm, supported by the weapons of crushing child hubbub.

It's the blessed country where the playgrounds are the main city problem. But nevertheless, the fight for Child's Dream is the most sacred form of protest.

And, thank God, there are a lot ways to do it much more peacefully.

Young daughters of David had even more dear dream than a new playground. They dreamed one day to sit down with Daddy in front of TV-set and see, finally, what he was doing on his job. We agree that Dad had some reasons to delay this moment, as long as he has not found a project which interested all family.

Well, this task is solved almost mathematically: Dad loves daughters and ballet, daughters love Dad and ballet. Anyway, in one of these points their tastes are the same.

We can't predict whether young Eliza Jane and Millie Wenham will become the actresses or ballerinas, but we do not doubt that the first TV-experience of watching their favorite Dad surrounded by tutus, pointe shoes and the immortal classics is a stunning event for child soul.

No, David did not train to do pirouettes and fouettes, but produced in the honorary rank of "ballet Dad", he became the host of six-part children's documentary program that opened for young viewers magical world of the Australian Ballet.

The show has a meaningful title "ONCE UPON A DREAM." And, in general, this is a very controversial question, whose dream is more there - the dream of the passionate balletomane or his daughters. Even Russian fans got their part! Of course, if you know what sort of music sounds in the film for the young ballerinas who perform their graceful steps.

IT'S STILL TOO LITTLE FOR WENHAM-FANS, OR THE ENDLESS "LIKE"

With this fantastic year schedule, it will be black ingratitude on our part to expect more. But appetite comes with eating. And, hopefully it's true not only for fans. And if between a few big projects David has enough strength, desire and abilities to take part in such short comic masterpiece ...

"I get the music in you": Tropfest Film Festival - 2011: Top 80 Shortlisted Film.

... why not ask for something long ago forgotten, in the Hollywood juicy mood, exploding global screens.

May be, "Star Wars", whose reincarnation was promised recently by Disney. It would be quite cool. And you know, it's not our idea. Just go here and click "like" for the contrast with the sophistication of ballet and David's favorite dramas ... Yes, and obviously such a film will come in useful for career ... not to mention the fact that all of us are missing the Hollywood scale, video blogs from the set, rampage of American media and cosmical box office figures.

And ...

All together!

Chorus!

Together!

Loudly!

One, two, three: "Promo tour! Promo tour! Promo tour! "

Okay, who do we want to cheat? All previous fan's experience? Even if Hollywood will use its elusive chance to appreciate our hero, the hero will never appreciate the Hollywood tinsel. We do not consider random photos of paparazzi from round the corner. David has a gift to save himself from amateur cameras. Even if it is a friendly camera and a friendly lunch.

The luxuriant parties like Celebrating 20 Years of the popular Australian magazine "Who" - for which David has agreed to become "a holiday cake" among the 20 biggest stars of Australian show business, including his old friends, Richard Roxburgh ("Van Helsing") and Anthony Field, - rather exception that proves the rule.

David will never lose the looks of person for whom glamour is not the goal and not an element, it's... it's sort of the crucible for the star.

But perhaps all is not lost. After all, appetite comes with eating. David, couldnТt you choose another tie? In conjunction with your brand look and smile - it's a control shot!

Is there somewhere else the casting for next blockbuster? We are going to press "like" again and again - sorry, David!

Wenhamania is overwhelmed!

Well, it would seem - we are swimming quietly in our peaceful home and cozy ponds, catching any falling crumbs and admiring the Sun ...

But there it was! More and more, we are bombarded by the typhoons of information, the stunning storms of news and the tsunamis of amazing announcements. Sometime it's really hard to sift through or to rake out all our stuff!

So, you, our loyal readers, do not be angry, if some of the news waves will go ahead of the other - they do not ask for permission ...

BUSSELTON WAVE

Well, the time of holidays and beaches have ended here in Russia, but it was rather ... hmmmm .. cold in Australia in recent months! It was the winter there, you know, and swimming was a bit uncomfortable.

But it's not in the nature of Aussie to be depressed and to mope! Every their day is a holiday and every their settlement is the capital of the festival.

And now the fifth August in a small beach town of Busselton on the west coast of Australia, 220 km's south of Perth, very special rejoicing took place - the festival of Australian and French cinema called CinefestOz. And year after year the organizers derive more and more pleasure from their contrivance.

First time David was washed ashore in Busselton in the past year. Together with well-known Australian director Fred Schepisi, he spent several days captivating the local audience with his hearty manner, and at the same time has been fascinated by genuine hospitality of his hosts. The residents of Busselton had proclaimed David as Australian Screen Legend then and handed him a fancy prize. But for the last year their mutuality only strengthened. This time they decided to make their relationship more official - David was declared the Patron of the festival. And now regardless of your wishes - "the appearance is required."

David and other star guests against the familiar background.

David and Bryan Brown on Busselton beach.

The scale of the festival is impressive: about 10 000 viewers; about 30 invited celebrities, including Screen Legend of this year - Bryan Brown ("Australia"), as well as actress Emma Booth and Rachel Ward; about 20 films, including debuts; filmmaker forums and meetings with the audience, charity dinners and other events, including the wonderful music and wine from the famous local wineries.

And yes, now Busselton has its very own Walk of Fame with the personal tiles of the winners of Australian Screen Legend Awards, opened by the legends themselves on August 25.

Bryan Brown and David Wenham officially opened BusseltonТs very own Walk of Fame on Saturday, 25 August at the CinefestOZ film festival.

Hooray, it's happened! Now David has Walk of Fame tile of his own, so Hollywood nervously smokes on the sidelines! )))
Busselton's tile of David lies near the tile of another favorite of last year festival - Koko, a charismatic kelpie from the movie "Red Dog." This fact has a special charm and flavor, hasn't it?

"Mix top-shelf wine with top-shelf films and it's a pretty potent mix,"ї Ц so Mr. Wenham described the atmosphere of the festival.

Probably, this cocktail was very strong, so the official patron of the festival and the Australian Screen Legend agreed to the photo shoot ... with a red G-string at the CinefestOz marquee!

"The things you do for art," David concisely rejected all questions of journalists.

We only managed to find out that photo shoot was intended to raise funds for a short film called Tango Underpants. Sure, it'll be an interesting movie.)))

FUNERAL WAVE

Now and then it rolls on Wenhamania.
Because the stars and the ordinary people are not much different. They have the friends who, it happens, pass away too early.
Adam Cullen had died in his sleep on Saturday, July 28, 2012.
There is no more the outstanding artist, the 2000 Archibald winner, who has immortalized in the famous portrait the shamefaced charisma of redbeard Mr. Riddle.

They say ...
A lot of things they say.

That he was a contemporary Australian artist of genius, and he was a very kind man, and he had some health problems both physical and mental ...

And they try to disguise with all these words the most important one -" he was."
And now he closed his days.
And there will no longer be the brilliant paintings, charity, a friend, his warmth.
Now he was.

David at the funeral of Adam Cullen.

Let's just keep silence for a moment.

RENAISSANCE WAVE

Only in this way. Because there is only one undisputed rule: "Do not lose hope!" And if a ship of your destiny rushes to the reefs, you should trust the will to live and everything can happen! Tack and a full blown towards other horizons!

So another longtime friend of David, Paul Cox ("Molokai: The Story of Father Damien") at downhill of his career and the days radically changed tack and came back to life for new achievements in the true sense of the word.

Documentary film "On Borrowed Time" narrated by David was to be the epitaph to the seventy-year director dying of liver cancer.

But mourning is canceled! Paul Cox loves life. And he didn't say his last word to his audience yet.
He's got through a hard surgery operation.
And he got over the rehabilitation.
And he found his new love.
And he's filmed new documentary film.
And he's screened it at several festivals, receiving the very positive reviews.
And he's written the script of his new feature film.
And this idea has infected producers.
And the star of this new project is already named.
And we know this dear name.

In short, the course before the wind, and seven feet under the keel, Paul.))

Fine artist and thinker, Paul Cox, can not wait to share his experience with his audience. August 10 in one of the largest clinics of Melbourne, Austin Hospital, where the director came back to life, there was the presentation of his "The Dinner Party". The heroes of the new documentary - Cox and his brothers and sisters in distress of liver transplantation - enjoy a friendly evening and talk to each other and to the audience on their experiences and feelings about the sufferings and joys, doubts and hopes, fears and responsibilities of people who have received a second chance.

It is unlikely that Paul had to coax David to conduct the presentation.

Paul Cox and David Wenham and the heroes of "The Dinner Party" - the patients and the healers at the presentation of film in the Austin Hospital, Melbourne, 10 August 2012. Taken here and here.

Scarcely David was hesitating when he gave formal agreement to star in a new film by Cox, which was announced on the day of presentation "The Dinner Party". Paul knows how to reason:
УI canТt make another film before I make "Force of Destiny", - - the director told reporters in response to questions about his new project, - and IТm utterly delighted to be working with David Wenham to bring this life affirming story to the screen.

The plot, as you know, is an artistic version of Cox's own life story. However, in the film his name will be Robert, he will be talented sculptor and he will be 25 years younger. Of course, the essence remains the same: Creativity. Death. Life. Love. Renaissance.

CAPTAIN WAVE

Mr. Wenham himself rises to the bridge, this fact you can call almost happened!

An unique directorial project "The Turning" has already clapped on sails. And now it's moving at full speed! The crew has shared pictures from the set of one of the first fragments of the film based on Tim Winton's story "Small Mercies " directed by Rhys Graham.

Being in Busselton Captain Wenham has made reconnaissance in outback in search of the location for filming of his segment (a tactical retreat after G-string photo shoot).

Most of the secrets of this project is still kept in the strictest confidence. And even David prefers to intrigue:
"Each story exists in its own right. I mean, I could do a Bollywood version of it with a heap of Indian actors and actresses if I wanted to. You know, we have Shaun Gladwell, a great visual artist, who is directing one. We have choreographers directing as well. So, who knows what's going to happen. It's very ambitious. I mean, there is no other project like it and for that reason the idea is not to draw lines creatively."

Bollywood?
Choreography?
There is nothing funny, actually. That's for sure, David has not set his foot yet on this field, so the amateur of the untrodden paths could be serious. Don't forget his long passion for dance. And just look at this colorful photo shoot from the opening night of "South Pacific" on August 12 this year.

Broadway classic love story, breaking racial prejudices with Polynesian exoticism and sparks of World War II on the stage of Sydney Opera House was being embodied by longstanding screen partners of David - Lisa McCune, the star of a police soap opera "Blue Heelers" and Kate Ceberano - charming Princess Liliuokalani from "Molokai: The Story of Father Damien."

For the time being David himself, of course, just watches the show from the auditorium in the company of his beloved girlfriend/wife.

David Wenham and Kate Agnew at the premiere of "South Pacific", Sydney Opera House, August 12, 2012.

Or he tries himself as a narrator, as for example, in the case of the program ABC "Australian story", the next issue of which is scheduled for Monday, October 1, and promises to break records. And the name of the host of program is not the last reason.))) It was announced that the show will be devoted to the fate of the super popular in Australia dancer and the new artistic Director of the Queensland Ballet, Li Cunxin, better known as "Mao's Last Dance", due to the autobiography and feature film of the same name.

David in the program УAustralian story: Leap of FaithФ, ABC1 October 1, 2012.

Perhaps, it donТt look like a quiet bay. But if Captain Wenham restocked creative energy for his long voyage in such place, we just have to hold our breath and wait for amazing results.))

But, in the end, we can agree on everything! On one condition, if David carrying out his dream ("he is behind the scenes") will not forget about our dreams ("he is in the scenes"). Though we know how it is ... "Can I become a director?" Then: "Give me a camera" And then - cutting film ...

This is an infection like sunflowerТs seeds! Mmmmmm ......

THE APOCALYPTIC WAVE

Frankly, really apocalyptic thoughts came to minds of Wenhamania's admins on the day when David and Kate enjoyed South Pacific passions in the walls of the Opera House. Unbiased statistical system has recorded an absolute record of visitors of Wenhamania. And dozens of our guests from the U.S. were interested in only one search phrase - "David Wenham Shark Week".

Next time, be merciful, our friends. Here in Russia we aren't aware of "Shark Week", and the word "shark" is not very inspiring, especially near the name of David. Our concern was slightly mitigated with the above idea that there was winter in Australia, so, you can tell, it was not a season for the man eating sharks.

But, August 12, a new season of the documentary series about the life of the most ferocious and powerful predators on the planet has started on the Discovery Channel - "Shark Week".

The first episode, enflaming the American public, has chilling title "Air Jaws Apocalypse."

After watching several fragments, none of us have any questions neither about "Air Jaws", nor about "Apocalypse." We have neither words nor air for breathing likewise...

Only emotions, which are going wild and delight. Watch here and in widescreen mode.

The point is: there is an island near the coast of South Africa.

There is a sealery on this island. When seals are getting hot and hungry, they plunge in the ocean.

And the ocean is the home of sharks. And for some reason near this island the sharks jump out of the water to catch anything for breakfast, well, or dinner.

And a team of Shark Week sails around the island, and shoots how the seals feed on and how the seals become food.

But, since this is the team of environmentalists, they use dummies of the seals, robo-seals, if you want.

(Yeah, and the poor sharks stay hungry except for a piece of rubber in their stomach ...)

And all of this foam-exciting beauty is narrated by charismatic and distinctive voice, which is not but very reminiscent of the mysterious and elusive Drew Skye from "Deadliest Warrior," but certainly sounds like Dilios from "300".

The speculation got confirmation in:
a) screenshots of final credits;

b) the response of the official tweets-account of the program.

The viewers were remarkably unanimous in choice of the words for their comments.

First of all, of course, it was "awesome":

@granthpaulsen: Didn't want to tweet about shark week because its become the cool thing to do. But David Wenham narrating it (narrated The 300) is awesome.

@pony_hotline: Watching #SharkWeek. #DavidWenham narrating. So Awesome!

@blainsmith: Its so awesome that David Wenham narrates #sharkweek

Well that was not just " awesome", frankly, it was "epic":

@Sarabeth_11:Make me happy that David Wenham (narrated 300) is narrating this episode of #sharkweek on right now. Epic.

@dangria: I dedicate this tweet to @RoboSeal who fears no shark and whose name sounds ultra epic when David Wenham says it. RO-BOW SEE-IL!

Few complaints:

@LonelyPugilist: David Wenham narrating Shark Week? Now I can't get any work done.

A little bit of flattering analogies:

@MDSomm: This epIsode of #SharWeek is making want to watch "300" tonight... David Wenham is almost as good at narrating as Morgan Freeman

A lot of thanks to the channel:

@ IonaGuyF: Discovery Channel, great job getting David Wenham to narrate this show! Great voice! #SharkWeek

@BrantleyBeauty: @SharkWeek David Wenham is the perfect choice to narrate such stunning cinematography! #SharkWeek never fails! #kudos

@TheJakeDuron: Having David Wenham narrate #SharkWeek is increasing the awesomeness of these shows by 100%.

And a lot of wishes:

@H2omelonhead: I LOVE that David Wenham is narrating Air Jaws! I could listen to him all day. #SharkWeek

@AudreyDelaine: David Wenham! Can he just narrate every show ever from now on?!#ILoffHim #SharkWeek

@IAmGennyV: God, I could listen to David Wenham read the telephone book and still get the tingles.

@choochiemama3:Pretty sure I want David Wenham to narrate my life day to day. It would totally make me seem more interesting.

But all this comments, of course, are flowers in comparison with the reaction of the Russian-speaking Wenham-fans: "Honestly, I feel the creeps on my skin when I hear it ... here and there ... the fist-sized creeps." Thank you, though, that this creeps do not bite.))

Have you also noticed that the sea addiction of David somehow especially is manifested? He draws the whales, protects ekopirates and voices the films about sharks. And we have not forgotten how good he was in a diving suit! It is strange that in all these years, a brave sea dog Horrie Young has not yet been promoted to admiral. A tunic clearly would have to look pretty good on him.))

THE NINTH WAVE

As it should be, this last wave comes to knock down and to drag along.

When all progressive humanity with compassion kept an eye on the fate of three Russian girls, accused of violating of clauses of councils of the Dark Ages, when Madonna, Sting and Paul McCartney appealed to the common sense of the Russian justice and just to the free consciousness of people, Wenhamania was not doubting whose side David was on with his love of colored balaclava and with his philosophical approach to life.

And then, Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) announced its anniversary and very ambitious season, and fatally-mystical-political-love-aesthetic detonator has exploded instantly.

There is nothing surprising in the fact that the company is going to celebrate its 60th anniversary in a royal style.

And it is logical that its new artistic director, Brett Sheehy, has added fresh impetus, packed season's program of the loud premieres consisting entirely of creative preferences of his colleagues, and the big-name stars of stage and screen, including so dear for David's fanbase - Pamela Rabe and Jacki Weaver ("Cosi"), Catherine McClements ("Better than sex","After the Deluge") and Anita Hegh ("The Seagull").

And it is quite clear that the illustrious company enjoys the opportunity to get his long-time favorite - "True West", "Cyrano de Bergerac" - again after almost 7 years.

But does anybody have a version as to why for his third appearance on the Melbourne stage, David chose a dramatic masterpiece of Arthur Miller "The Crucible"? Classic story about the confrontation of free consciousness and the dark sides of human nature, which manipulate public ignorance and hysteria.

And can anyone explain why the performances are scheduled for June-August 2013, almost a year after announcement, and even for the most fortunate for Russian fans time of vacations?

That's where a mere coincidence becomes "the call of the Universe", isn't it?

Contrary to the popular saying, David goes in this river for the second time. "The Crucible" of misty student time at the stage of Theatre Nepean at the University of Western Sydney resonates with twofold power. Now David's fans know that twenty-five years ago a young student of acting school played the main antagonist of the play, heartless villain Danforth, who condemned to death dozens of innocent people for the sake of bureaucratic ritual.

Perhaps, this is a new word in the amazing career of David - he returns to play diametrically opposite role - raging John Proctor, a tragic hero of Salem wars over common sense.

The dates of performances are scheduled; the booklets and the posters are printed. The season was officially launched on August 23, 2012 at the function in the walls of the MTC, where David happily posed for the cameras and gave out the autographs, smiles and even a friendly hug for his fans.

Friendly pic with a fan. Taken from here.

And this sudden retro-foam on the crest of a wave is like a control shot in a massive attack on the fan's soul, which is ready to cry craven; something washing away another white theatrical spot on Wenhamania's map, long hoped-for and the only photo from other David's stage work - controversial Moliere's "Tartuffe."

In general, now Russian Wenham-addicts are stealthily looking at their bags and between work and home they are secretly leafing websites of travel agencies and airlines. Is this the level of temptation or decision? Hard to say, if it will be enough time to someone of them to save up enough money for the pleasant trip, but you see, this time the call of the Universe could not be more powerful.))

Wait for us, David))) And prepare all your autographs, smiles and hugs, (well, actually, we agree even only on your smiles) not to mention all power of your acting energy. Because we will come to get it all at once)), and we hope that you won't stint it for us, as "truly humble man and a giant talent" ((c) Reverend Graham Long, the head of the Catholic mission "Wayside Chapel")

In the end, it's not so much, if you imagine that someone wants to cross several continents and oceans, and to pay more than 4 thousand dollars, not even expecting to win lunch with you. )))

Wenhamania's Mood: happybirthdaytoyou!)))

You did not think that we would miss this day, didn't you? Of course not. Or did you think?

Okay, we should confess: our way of life is harassing us, and our problems are eating our brains, but it's not an excuse to miss our main Holiday - the Day of the International Union of all the irredeemable Wenham-addicted people and those ones who just understand this strange and pleasant illness, which is indicated by the symptoms of increasing sensitivity to all things which are beautiful, talented , versatile, deep, startling, unexpected, heartfelt, humble, courageous, generous, funny, touching, sexual, honest, red-headed and warm ...

... To all of that things which are desired by the souls of thousands of fans, who want just to quench the spiritual thirst and to nourish creative energy.

In general, it's David.))

And it does not matter whether David knows about Wenhamania or not.

On this day, we come together to congratulate ourselves on having these great feelings.

And there is some quiet, gentle, charming charisma in this day.

In this day were born the Virgin Mary, Paracelsus, HG Wells and a wonderful actor and an astoundingly heartwarming man - Zinovy Gerdt.

This day is written in gold lettering in the Epic. It's the living spring of glory of the great Pelennor battle of Russian History.

The Pelennor Field was called Kulikovo then, and the name of Aragorn was Dmitry Donskoy.

However, our history has a special flavor: wounded in the forefront of his troops Russian Aragorn could also be Russian Faramir.

Do you ask, but where does David? And do you think that all this has nothing to do with the matter? Or maybe you just smile at the human need to dream.

Like this, for example.)))

Of course, this is not George Dawe and not even Steve Payne.

But it's the long-standing dream of Russian fans - David in the image of the hero of Russian Patriotic War of 1812.

Will you agree that the uniform of Russian Defender of Motherland looks very good on David and maybe no worse than on Sir Ian McKellen or Elijah Wood?))

Or is it the influence of another anniversary of the great Russian Victory in the war with the Emperor Napoleon? )))

Clip for the mood.

In fact, our mood is not militaristic. Rather, it's so lyrical.

Time is running out, the years are closing their circles, but the achievements, the dreams and the baggage of human warmth fill our life with happiness.

Do you remember how it all began, dear David?

It was like this:

The very first screen appearance of David Wenham, an episode 954 of the TV series "Sons and Daughters", 1987, the part of Debt Collector. Epic.))

What did you dream of then? What were you thinking? Could you imagine that after years your face would be cognized in any corner of the world, and your fans in all continents would catch at your movies and autographs and would not sleep at night, devoting to you their fanfiction, videos, and websites?

Are you surprised?

Are you smiling?

Are you happy?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVID WENHAM!!!!

This is for you, that is, certainly, for us))) (thank you, A—”јЌј, for your nice job!)

Other gifts from Wenhamania lie already for a long time in the Gallery and Publications: smart albums of screenshots of the latest David's projects - "Killing Time" and "Oranges and Sunshine" and the long-awaited collection of articles and reviews to the last film. And don't forget to subscribe to our new YouTube Channel! While Russian Government is only threatening to close for us the access to this resource. Please, wait for another kilometer of update. It's coming in couple of days.

Everything will be also just epic!))

It's all, we're going to celebrate.)))

Wenhamania's Mood: AAAAAAAAAAh ..... We're back! .

Wenhamania promised not to disappear for a long time... And thanks to all our glorious residents who firmly believed in it and every day visited our news page in spite of its hopeless state of neglect. We don't know what the thing was more painful for admin's conscience - the love of David or perseverance of our dear residents. So, we hope all of us will be pleasing with our return because Wenhamania, whatever it was, is a small island paradise in the middle of life's troubles. The surf of summer's life is raging near its coast, it's being swamped by the flood tide of professional problems, it's facing a tsunami of social commotion.

But Russian Wenhamania is still alive and fine. And even if you have noticed, preens itself, changing the title animation (Welcome back, Maroon!). So we rolled up our sleeves to sift through the accumulated piles of news.

ABOUT GALA DAY

We have two pieces of news: disgusting news and excellent news. At first, on April 15, Wenhamania has prepared its hands, looking forward to applaud the victory of David who got the prestigious Logie Awards 2012 nomination for his gorgeous part of Andrew Fraser in the TV-series "Killing Time". The win seemed so unconditional that the outcome of a ceremony plunged David's fans into horror. Powerful explosion scattered the shards of emotions throughout the internet. And only the considerations of political correctness will not allow Wenhamania to cite the most acute of them.

@ stevenrhaigh: David Wenham hard done by killing time was by far the best Aussie Tv movie of all time #Logies

@ RANDE113: David Wenham should have won!

@ RobertOHFedele: David Wenham was amazing in Killing Time. Should have won #logies2012

@ Gonerill43_Maki: He deserves that award. His work playing Fraser is one of his best in his career.

@ KylieSmith: #LogieAwards2012 still very bummed about David Wenham not winning the logie for most outstanding actor for killing time!!!

Summary of the discussion was brief:

@ Lindbag93: David Wenham was robbed!! #amazingacto #killingtime

Point!

The skeptical attitude to the whole Australian system of estimation of domestic talents has already come to stay in some hot-heads, but then the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (which has an astronomical abbreviation-ASTRA) bravely stood up to defend the reputation of national industry. ASTRA showered "Killing Time" with the nominations. They were obtained by the project itself (Most Outstanding Drama) and by two leading actors certainly (Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor:Male, Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor: Female).

June 21, David and Diana Glenn have come at the solemn distribution of prizes and gifts.

With the beating heart Wenhamania followed Twitter broadcasting of the Programm. The heart had to suffer))).

In the best traditions of such shows the compelling men handed the prizes to the compelling ladies and vice versa.

At first, David stepped to the stage to give the Award for Favourite Personality to glamorous TV presenter Donna Hay. And then he was replaced by no less charming Asher Keddie, an unforgettable love interest of heroic "Cyrano de Bergerac." Asher could not let us down.

And Roxane met Cyrano again!

OUR FLOURISH OF TRUMPETS, APPLAUSE AND WARMEST CONGRATULATIONS TO DAVID!!!!!

David and the well-deserved trophy.

Diana was less fortunate, Kerry Fox intercepted Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor: Female Award and the right to pose with David against the backdrop of the triumphant color.

David himself was brief. "Thanks, - he said. - to Andrew Fraser!"

That's right! Andrew, thank you very much for your fantastic complex life! And we wish your further life will be as simple and enjoyable as possible. Although ... it seems, this wish is also from the realm of fantasy)))

ABOUT TODAY

After a short break a dose of information about current project of David - the adaptation of Tim Winton's book "The Turning" - is some consolation. The shooting will start in late August: six episodes will be filmed somewhere in Western Australia and the rest parts go to the locations of Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.

The question of the cast is still hanging in the air, but our dear Mr. Robert Connolly ("The Bank", "Three Dollars"), who heads the team of the beginer-directors, sends us the rays of hope:

"With people like David, Cate (Blanchett) and Mia (Wasikowska) involved already, it's generating a lot of interest from a lot of big-name actors."

A little hazy message of this words again divided David's fanbase into pessimists and optimists. The pessimists argue that Robert had in mind only the directing potential of our favorites. The optimists have already chosen the leading parts for them in this project. Till the end of August we still have time to dream.

Anyway one dream has already come true - an old dream of David: his personal IMDb page now proudly declares: "Actor. Producer. DIRECTOR! "

ABOUT SOMETHING DEEP

Traditionally, the news without the News. Four long months in the picturesque outback of New Zealand the affinity team of the new Jane Campion's project "Top of the Lake" created the Mystery of Shooting.

All this time the fans did not get any intelligible information on the subject of their interest. A short and fulminant the BBC Two promo doesn't bring relief, because we find in it only the wildlife of New Zealand, terrible scenes of violence and passionate Elisabeth Moss.

Judging by the few pics, reporters were allowed to approach there only to a distance of gunshot, and leaking information looked like a dry statistical summaries: 65 member of crew, 200 participants - along with the actors and extras, 97 characters ...

Sadly, there isn't one person among such an impressive crowd, who would have thought that somewhere out there in the outside world, outside of their paradise, unhappy fans yearn for information on David Wenham and can not wait to see what he is doing on the set, or in the most extreme case, to find out the name of his character and his storyline ... The fact that this thoughts never come to David's head doesn't surprise us anymore.

But the fans did not give up, and during the investigation they brought up a robust version: woking in two steps from the estate of his good old friend, wonderful actor Sam Neill, David can't avoid his wellknown winery.

The version was brilliantly confirmed: David was found there, against backdrop of magnificent landscapes of Central Otago (New Zealand), in the heart of the estate with the romantic name - Two Paddocks - in the company of his famous friend, actress Madeline Sami and a bottle of Picnic Riesling .

David Wenham, Madeline Sami and Sam Neill, April, 2012.

So, we do not know how significant and profound David's part in this lady's project is, but we have realised that he got a great pleasure from shooting.))

Now "Top of the Lake" has left the hospitable shores of Moke Lake and entered a phase of post-production, which will last until the end of the year in Sydney studios.

ABOUT SOMETHING HIGH

"A Cautionary tail" - little animated fable about finding your unique personality slightly slowed its way to the viewer. In fact, the project turns out not to be so small, and its creators were forced to seek help from the crowd-sourced funding website Kickstarter in order to attract the attention of private donators and to supplement the budget of the film.

Resonance was huge: the verse tale of Erica Harrison, passed through her soul, was written for children and moved the adults.

"The messages in A Cautionary Tail will resonate with a lot of people. - - said no anyone, but Professor Ian Hickie, Executive Director of the University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Research Institute. Ц - It's not just about bullying, it's about fitting in and being accepted, experiencing depression and feeling anxious."

The team of film is creative, spiritual, and not without ambition. This is how the guys work on the project.

And that's what comes out of it.

And if you'll remember another example of how the film became a finalist of competition before the end of production, you will get a prize. But "A Cautionary tail" makes us believe in miracles: the project is included in the list of participants of the Australian Effects & Animation Festival Awards (AEAF Awards) 2012. It seems a good angel stretched out his wings on the film. No wonder because Glenn Owen Dodds himself did the voice acting.)))

ABOUT SOMETHING SWEET

The confectionery thriller "Dripping in chocolate," brilliantly launched on the Australian and New Zealand small screens in April, gathered an impressive audience and incredibly inspired the owners of UKTV with very high rating.

At the premiere of UKTVТs thriller Dripping in Chocolate at Bar 100 in the Rocks (from here)

Russian Wenhamania has a magical opportunity to participate in this celebration of life, and the aroma of chocolate continues to hover over our pages as unsteady cloud of enticement.

A little bit of appetizing screenshots ...

A bit of intriguing publications:

WENHAM'S NEW ROLE A REAL TREAT

WENHAM GETS A TASTE FOR CRIME

FILM NOIR GETS A SUGAR COATING

And a couple of high-calorie reviews:

Brad Newsome: "All that said, it's a good yarn and a decent way to spend a few hours on a quiet Saturday night in. Wenham, as ever, is wonderful, while Lombard is a treat as well."." ("EASTER VIEWING")

David Knox: ""I was grateful for the performances of Wenham and Lombard, who work hard to create sexual tension. They were paired so well together that ultimately I could have sat through a Chocolat-style romance from the two, without a pointless murder needing to get in the way. " ("DRIPPING IN CHOCOLATE ")

Well, we think, there is an easy exaggeration here. We believe they didn't work too hard. In any case there were no special efforts from part of the ladies' team. The information from first hands:

Louise Lombard (Juliana): "David has got an old-fashioned sort of gentlemanly way about him, which is incredibly sexy."

Chelsie Preston-Crayford (Riley): "David is great, he's a consummate professional and he's really experienced and he's also got quite a devilish sense of humour, he was good fun to be around. He's so good at his job."

The great, funny, experienced, professional and sexy family man, David keeps silence diplomatically.

His fans refer to this with great understanding.

ABOUT SOMETHING ACUTE

A light smoke of the world revolution is covering the planet, the sparks of protest are jumping over the continents. And even Russia rages like the boiler which is ready to explode. May be on the other side of the Globe in his peaceful and prosperous country, David feels the rebellious impulses of his fans. Since as the Australian opposition, strongly supported by him, has ceased to be the opposition and triumphantly transformed into the ruling power, his energy found another course of the protest.

In early June, the camera caught David against the background of the black flag of the radical organization 'Sea Shepherd'. This flag proudly fluttered in Malibu, California, over the estate of the famous billionaire and philanthropist John Paul DeJoria.

Captain Paul Watson, an ecologist and a brave defender of animal rights, despising the false conventions and barbaric brutality of modern civilization, the person who causes burning hatred of the poaching mafia, cold irritation of the bourgeois governments and the most sincere respect of all progressive mankind, he teetered on the brink of life and death, awaiting extradition from Germany into the arms of dubious justice of Costa Rica. People of Good Will from all corners of the Earth stretched out their hands of friendly support to him.

Eco-Pirate: The Story of Paul Watson - Official Trailer

Global Support to Free Captain Paul Watson

One of the ships of Paul Watson's squadron is named after Steve Irwin. Could David not be in the front ranks of the defenders of daring Captain of Eco-Pirates? A rhetorical question!

June 9, 2012, David Wenham arrives at the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's benefit to 'Free Captain Paul Watson' held at the estate of John Paul DeJoria on June 9, 2012 in Malibu, California.

Now the desperate eco-pirate is on the run. May be anywhere there are the words of condemnation - you will not find them on this website!)))

Of course, David himself never was a pirate, not a rebel or a revolutionary. Though it looks like his sensitive soul opens to meet the energy of rebellion:

Q.In another life could you see yourself as a freedom fighter?

A.I'd hope so. It's an extraordinary thing to do and I can understand it 100 per cent.

(Vanessa Santer. Interview with David Wenham, 2006)

But in this life his weapons and support is a Word.

Exactly one month later, on July 9, David took part in the filming of the Foxtel documentary "The People Speak." A lot of brilliant stars came out along with him in front of the audience that filled the great hall of the cultural center Carriageworks in Redfern (Sydney). There were his old screen partners - Jack Thompson ("Australia"), Chris Haywood ("Molokai:The Story of Father Damien"), Asher Keddie ("Cyrano de Bergerac"), Magda Szubanski ("The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course"), Dan Wylie ("Cosi") and many other leading Australian actors and musicians. They read speeches and sang songs of famous rebels, visionaries and protesters from Australia's past, whose lives were hardened in the crucible of social struggles for the rights of workers, women, immigrants and indigenous peoples. Pathos of liberty, or nerve of the time? The history that goes back like a boomerang to those who have forgotten about it.

David Wenham, Jack Thompson, Chris Haywood: The People Speak, July 9, 2012.

A revolutionary film will be aired Australian on History Channel in October or November of this year. From the viewpoint of Russian History this is the right time.)))

ABOUT SOMETHING VERY HUMAN

No scandals, no gossips, no fried facts. The news is simple and human, as David himself.

Here in May he is participating in "Food Allergy Awareness Week," organized by Anaphylaxis Australia Inc.

David is not just a guest. He opens the evening and invites the audience to plunge into another world - a world without iPhones and iPads, a simple and magical world of naturalness and personality, where he feels like a fish in water.

The sun is shining brightly and the big human heart is pulsating in this peaceful, multi-dimensional and kind world....

And have we already said that Wenhamania is an island paradise in the middle of life's ...... ? Oh, yes!

April, 1, 2012

Wenhamania's Mood: striped ... as life itself.

And in this case the most important thing is the strips must be alternated at least.

BLACK STRIP

Sad news came this week. In Afghanistan a suicide bomb blast seriously wounded heroic Mark Waldman... sorry, David Savage, the man who inspired the creators of the mini-series "Answered by Fire" and became the prototype for its main character, so brightly and memorably played by David Wenham.

David Wenham and David Savage, whose experiences as a peacekeeper in East Timor inspired "Answered by Fire."

Years later restless Savage still puts his life at risk for the sake of people who need help in the world's most dangerous places. He is a member of the Australian Civilian Corps, which helps to re-establish the infrastructure in the war-torn country. But the bomb, as you know, do not choose - where is an armed soldier, and where is an unarmed AusAID worker .

We leave the conclusions on the politicians conscience. But we wish David Savage a speedy recovery and we wish his family strength at this time! You are a noble-minded and brave man, Mr. Savage, and we sure you'll pass through this fiery trial. And hopefully it was not in vain.

WHITE STRIP

However, when a person is happy, the sun shines straight from his photographs. On this sunny note Wenhamania adds more festival pics and video to its collections:

David Wenham at Optus One80Project Festival in Centennial Park, Sydney, March 18, 2012.

BLACK STRIP

It is a pity, of course, but Lake Project ("Top of the Lake") doesn't overjoy us with such sunny emotions. Pics keep coming. And we can see everything - from the spectacular panorama of Moke Lake to the team focused on the work. We can even find a map of the area of shooting, but not David...

Information about the cast keeps coming. And very big names are already announced (including the terrific Warrior Princess - Lucy Lawless) and details about their characters are quite clear. We know the name of characters of the little girl -Jacqueline Joe and handsome Jay Ryan, but we don't know the name of David's character!

The only piece of information, which we have at the moment, indicates that now David is a real expert in the roles of policemen.

"But for the moment, he is busy on set in New Zealand playing a Queenstown policeman in the mini-series Top of the Lake, which has been co-written by Jane Campion and will be directed by her," - Pam Brown said.

A policeman? Hmmm ... the problem "The Good? The Bad? The Ugly? " clearly remains an open question at least for Russian fans.

WHITE STRIP

If only there is a theme where fan's soul can rest, it's chocolate project of David! The premiere is scheduled for next weekend, April 7, and now we're attacked by very smart promotion.

♦  Incredible posters and stills:

♦  Funny comments and behind-the-scenes pics showing hidden from the viewer a side of the project:
The crew on location.

The nice story by costume designer Neville Kerr about the completion party, in which "very friendly David, and director Mark Joffe" took part. The story was published in the author's column in Japaralia magazine. Russian Wenham-fans have already decided to learn Japanese when irreplaceable Miwa came to the aid, for which we are very grateful to her.

In addition to the remarkable pic with David Neville has kept the glorious souvenirs from this party: a big coloring booklet, a gift DVD and a box of delicious chocolate .... Okay, only a box ... He hasn't kept the chocolates. But who could blame him?))))

♦   And, of course, great interviews, one is tastier than another:

A MYSTERY WENHAM'S MUM WOULD HAVE LOVED
CHOCOLATE TRAIL OF BITTERSWEET THRILLS
CINEMATIC SEDUCTION
CHOCOLATE MYSTERY UNFOLDS IN SYDNEY

No more! Strength of the ladies is running out. Music and cinema break! Of course, the chocolate-love theme. We are just eating chocolate and dreaming about the princes, even without the white horses!

"And in the warm wind to catch again -
Cry of violins, or ring of cymbals...
And what would it give me?
You would not understand!"

Could it be an anthem for Wenhamania? )))

"Girl from an Inn." Music video for the movie "Chocolate".
(By the way, full English translation of this lovely song can be found here!)

WHITE STRIP

As soon as we had done the previous update, the news exploded the Internet: "Galadriel, Alice in Wonderland and Faramir will make their directorial debuts," - the information resources in all languages, including Russian, cried and happily retold the announcement of the project named "The Turning".

Well, the news is bearded. At the beginning of 2011 Screen Australia has announced its readiness to fund unexpected project - the adaptation of an anthology of short stories of well-known Australian writer Tim Winton.

This project is unusual, of course, not because of its literary basis, but because of the number of directors (17 in the number of stories), many of them will try themselves in this role for the first time. Among them there is our dear David, who so often frightened his fans with his intention to start directing that, in the end, they forgot their fear.)))

This news becomes a white strip because of fact that the project was finally found out by IMDb. And although, contrary to its information, the cast of the film has NOT been announced yet, something tells us that the truth is out there.)))

Dear Kate, Mia and David, keep in mind, you will be misunderstood by your audience if you won't play in the film, which you are going to direct! OK, we hope that Robert Connolly ("Bank", "Three Dollars"), who leads your team, won't allow you to do it!)))

WHITE STRIP

After a period of hibernation Wenhamania tries to keep its spirit up and starts to restore order. All new projects of David got their pages in Filmography section. Especially solid one is the chocolate project which has now Synopsis, Gallery and collection of the Publications - pages, where you, dear guests and residents, are welcome. We've even finally grown up to some modernization of News page, which you probably will like, given our kilometer-size updates. Hopefully, this ignition won't go out too soon, and new updates won't keep you waiting.

But .... Wait! It looks like we have three white strips in a row! Certainly, life stops to be striped!)))))))

Wenhamania's Mood: let's say, it's Spring ...

Hot Russian winter of 2012, decorated with White Ribbons, resulted in a prolonged cold spring. Sorry, David, but the history is being written right now on the streets of Russian cities, and Wenhamania was sucked into a whirlpool of the events.

But in the warm rays of Spring Sun impulses of love broke through the armour of revolutionary enthusiasm!

More stunning pictures by Peter Brew-Bevan are here.

And Wenhamania is returning with another 1 km long updates to the object of its sighs. We have the fifteen wagons and a small truck of news. Let's try to pack them compactly.)))) What kind of things filled his life in this months?

CHAPTER ONE. AWARDS AND NOMINATIONS

"Oranges and Sunshine" ends its triumphal tour of the screens of the competitions and festivals, leaving David with three prestigious nominations (AACTA, IF, and AFCA). We are incredibly pleased with the fact that there are some perceptive people who believe that David's work is worthy - well - an Oscar! And not just the Australian one. But, alas, waving man with the golden polish won't decorate the mantelshelf in David's house this year. The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) did not appreciate the leading male part in "Oranges and Sunshine". However, it has noted Supporting Actor - the inimitable Hugo Weaving (Jack). Hugo took with him from the Awards Ceremony on 31 January a statuette, and congratulations, to which Wenhamania was happy to add its own gratters. David just has added a few nice photos to his collection.

The Australian Film Critics Association had a chance to correct the injustice, it nominated the wonderful acting trio for its major Awards. However, the venerable critics did not want to use this chance and only Emily Watson got prize (and our congratulations respectively!)

Well, let's leave this phenomenon on conscience of the academics and tell the truth: in the rating of Wenhamania David will remain Number One regardless of the golden waving men and other badges of honour. If only he would have a reason to put on a tuxedo and a bow tie and throw himself at the mercy of photographers and cameramen.

On the red carpet with Kate Agnew.

On the stage with his longtime screen partner Aden Young ("Cosi", "Molokai," "After the Deluge").

Of the six AACTA nominations, "Oranges and Sunshine" has got just one Award of Hugo. Disappointment is sweetened by pleasant surprise! A touching drama about lost British generations was underestimated by the leading Australian film critics, but suddenly it was appreciated by those who allegedly did not have to fall in love with the story. The Australian Catholic Film Office (ACFO) named it the Best Film of 2011! Well, now we feel at ease. David will not get into "the black list" of his native Christian Brothers' High School Lewisham what Jim Loach (director) was darkly hinting at during the filming. Catholic public was not offended by the ugly truth of movie.

The world is changing for the better indeed!))

"Oranges and Sunshine" is a history now, but the long-suffering TV-drama "Killing Time", as it turned out, is still on the rise! Slightly shaken audience rating on the site IMDb has soared to the decent heights, the TV-series rushed to storm the other television channel, and the most precious news came on March 18 from the announcement ceremony of the Silver Logie nominations. David and his lovely screen partner, Diana Glenn are nominated as the Most Outstanding Actor & Actress of the Year! Whether they will get this prestigious Awards, we will know on April 15. However, this time the feelings of Wenhamania are more penetrating than ever!

THEY HAVE TO GET THEM!

We cross fingers for you, guys! Good luck to you both!

CHAPTER TWO. TALENTS AND JUDGES

Well, David has no luck in winning the prizes for the present, but he came back to take a look at the such sort of procedures from the other side. In January it was announced that Optus One80Project - one of the most popular competitions of young film makers in Australia - the second time has managed to get a star in the jury. David, well known as an ardent advocate of the development of national culture, has accepted the offer with huge enthusiasm, almost the same enthusiasm with which the audience greeted the news. Particularly eloquently it's demonstrated in this video.

David Wenham interview on The Project, January 2012.

His responsible attitude towards judge's duties David expressed as follows:

"To be completely honest, when I was asked last year I had never heard of the competition - once I read about it, I saw it as being the most unique competition I have ever come across, actually. The winner doesn't just get a cheque and a fancy trophy; what they get is probably something far more valuable to them and that's the opportunity to realise their idea's full potential".

David has in mind that a winner takes a unique chance - to bring his idea from a short three-minutes clip to a feature film. Fantastic conditions! Not surprisingly, the competition has a huge success.

Last year's experience of David's participation has ended with a great festival in March.

This year's experience has begun with a series of interviews, including video.

And a fun Opening Ceremony Photo Session.

(You're right, this intriguing point really distracts from the topic of news. And you are not wrong, at this ceremony David has appeared with the "ornament" of sinister moustache, which we'll talk over in the next chapter, with your permission).

The final chord of the competition this year - a big festival in Sydney's Centennial Park, March 18, with all its attendant pleasures - photo sessions and a meeting with the audience. Enjoy.

Say what you like, but from Russia which is gripped by the revolutionary fever it's so nice to see that somewhere else people are gathering not to shout political slogans to each other, but just to enjoy the art and consuetude.

CHAPTER THREE. SHOOTING AND RELEASES

Despite the dark apprehension of the past year, Wenhamania is looking forward to the upcoming premieres! Two new projects of David is on the way and already got the dates of releases, and not only. Animated film about a girl with an emotional tail, "A Cautionary Tail" will be released in June, and a detective romance "Dripping in Chocolate" - much more soon - in April! Official site of "A Cautionary Tail" with a gallery and a trailer can now be found here. The chocolate project has this vigorous trailer in addition to this pretty pic from Twitter of Louise Lombard.

Now nibbling chocolate bars, fans of David are waiting for news from his new international project - a mini-series "Top of the Lake". Its filming has started on February 7 in New Zealand and so far the only our trophy is the gorgeous views of Moke Lake - one of the most beautiful film locations.

Tourist mecca of local residents for several weeks was not available for walking, as well as David in the guise of his nameless character was lost for the fans somewhere among these picturesque hills. And it traditionally launched a disputation about his part. Fuel to the fire was added by the mysterious manipulations that David was doing with his face on the eve of filming. First we saw the sinister mustache a la Messrs. Fletcher@Fletcher, and then David's face became glossy again. (See Chapters One and Two) Exciting game of "Guess Who is the David's character: the Good, the Bad, the Ugly," will not end until next year. In the case of Jane Campion, who are known for her non-standard scripts, this game becomes even more exciting. But in the end, we have somehow adapted to this condition. We can only believe that the shock of the revelation will not be too strong.)))

CHAPTER FOUR. OLD AND KIND

Something is not quite old, and something is not quite kind, but we can hardly use other words reference to David's projects of past years. 21 years ago Griffin Theatre gave a start in life for an unknown actor David Wenham with the impressive production - "The Boys". At the end of last year the Company has decided to revive the resonance play in the new reading (one and two). It looks like the triumph was repeated and a few weeks ago the successful season was finished. It had a kind of talisman - Jeannette Cronin who played in the film of 1998 the wife of one of the notorious boys (Jackie), at this time the actress pictured their lost mother (Sandra).

Now we have an excellent report, which connects the past and the present of the legendary story - the real basis of the plot and the three high-profile productions.

OK, we'll smooth gloomy theme of rapists and murderers with the chivalric romance. The TV version of "Pope Joan" will have a long way to the the world audience. Let's be comforted with the description of scenes included into the mini-series. It does not matter that this description is in German. Pics is not needed in the translation.

The bright person of the Dark Ages.)))

CHAPTER FIVE. ROMEO AND JULIET

You are pretty much mysterious, the Russian soul. For some people it's just a new pic David and Kate. For the others persons it's important that a photographer caught them at the Australian Ballet production choreographed by great Graeme Murphy. For the Russian fans it's important that there is immortal music of Sergei Prokofiev in it. Although in general, first, second and third points - all together- it's an explosive mixture.

David and Russian culture - the most tremulous theme for this web site. Alas, it's not so tremulous for David himself, though he starred in the films about the Russian Migrants and played in Chekhov's drama. These are just the thin bridges connecting the Sydney celebrity with a little country of one-sixth of the earth's land size, which he still goes round during his travels around the world, and where a modest group of the most bizarre of his fans lives.))) Today, we have got another small bridge.

Dear David, Prokofiev's music is brilliant, as well as the whole history of Russia. We hope that if you would like to dig deeper layer, you can't stop.

A fragment from cantata by S. Prokofiev and Eisenstein's film "Alexander Nevsky", 1938.

CHAPTER SIX. TWITTER AND FACEBOOK.

And finally. David's fanbase is gaining information space. Thanks to the efforts of hardworking Minkey from Wenham-Wonderland, you can now read up David's news on Facebook and Twitter. Wenhamania decided to keep up with the trends of the time and opened its own Twitter account. It is difficult to say how it will be useful. In any case, some admins, who are particularly obsessed by the long texts, much faster can share their news. Posting the tweet is much shorter procedure than writing another update.

However, we hope for the best. Wenhamania promises to do its best and do not oppress their residents with such a long silence .... Well, honestly... we're going to try.

BONUS OF UPDATE.

A wonderful assortment of multimedia to cheer up David's fans - a handful of additions to the previous update.

January, 7, 2012

DEAR FRIENDS AND GUESTS OF WENHAMANIA! WE CONGRATULATE YOU ON HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 AND WITH ORTHODOX CHRISTMAS!!!

And with the new News Page! (Sorry for the tautology)

We wish you good health, inexhaustible energy, boiling enthusiasm, warm feelings, reliable well-being, sweet dreams, happy awakenings, beloved work, funny holidays, wide circle of friends and NO partings! And, of course, many, many, many movies with David!

Overloaded with events last year-page was safely moved to the archive. In memory of it we will leave here this elegant garland. Let it hang there for good luck and good fortune.

With the old page we have sent to the archive our main poll, which Wenhamania carried out in the Russian section. Its results were slightly distressing to Wenhamania's Administration. We worked a lot, we crossed the swords, we tried everything, but to the question, "Hall of Fame: Your favorite Character of David?" we had got the same sad, though beautiful answer!

Forgive us, the charismatic Luke for your 16%, the charming Carl for your 7%, the inimitable Johnny Spit (3%), the women's dream - smart Diver Dan and macho Dilios (2%), forgive us, Mark, Alex and Doug (oh, God, just 1%), but 68% of the 148 Russian participants of our poll still do not notice you. You are lost in the shadow of the proud and stately noble Captain of Gondor, Faramir Prince of Ithilien.

OK, we have approached the problem from the other side.

Now we invite all English-speaking visitors to join our poll!

The question is: "Best David's character ever?" We mean the character, wich "opened your eyes" to the TALENT (everything is clear with the beauty) of actor David Wenham. )))) In other words, dear guests and residents, we question you, which character forces you to realize that David is not just a handsome man, who was born to play the noble knights, but actually unique and wonderful actor? You can choose as many answers as you want! Perhaps this will be rightly!

Well, we're moving in the direction of the promised news about David! Little Bit of Everything.)))

CHOCOLATE NEWS

As soon as we've rejoiced at the beginning of filming David's chocolate project ("Dripping in Chocolate"), the shooting safely came into the stage of post-production. As we expected, the details of this exciting action hopelessly lost. In the absence of an official website or blog of the project the only our hope always are passersby, with well-developed peripheral vision or extras with well-developed sense of humor. The chronicle of the events is sparse and intriguing. But the atmosphere on set was flavorous and upbeat.

October 17, lovely Lucy Durack relishes the details of her first day on the set of new telemovie, "And my job this afternoon is to taste test amazing chocolates!!"

October 19, a charming lady - Kerry, who works on TV, announces in her blog about the beginning of filming a new project: "Well the week has started off quite well, its 'hump day' hope it continues, I've commenced shooting a new show 'Dripping In Chocolate', which is a telemovie for BBC/UK TV. Cast are great, David Wenham, and Louise Lombard who is English, but based in the US.... both are so far so good (LOL)."

In early November the striped tie of Detective Bennett O'Mara flashed in different parts of Sydney and has been seen in SH Ervin Gallery,

Near by the day nursery, in which Neil Ackland drives his babies ("Just saw actor David Wenham shooting a scene out front of my daughters daycare."), as well as in another unidentified place of urban type ("The guy in the suite on the right is David Wenham").

Here and there David had to work on the set:

- With an unnamed friend of Ally Hanslow and it caused the easy fit of understandable jealousy. ("So my friend has a small background role in a new tv movie. She's working alongside David Wenham and I am jealous.")

- With a mysterious woman-astronomer, Amanda Bauer and it caused the easy fit of not understandable irony. ("I worked out with David Wenham this morning! he's impressively strong for a skinny actor!")

- As well as ... with the boy from "Aussie karate kid" named Chris.

One has to wonder how the art galleries, astronomy, and kid's karate fit into the chocolate line of the detective story. But we're patient! We must wait for the answers to these questions! Sipping our chocolate! May be like this)))

ORANGES NEWS

Alas, the jury of IF Awards didn't appraise the works of the team of "Oranges and Sunshine". The film received eight nominations and only one award, which went to England in the treasury of excellent Emily Watson. We congratulate Emily!

November 16, with his faithful girl-friend, Kate Agnew, David attended the ceremony of IF Award. He happily posed for the cameras.

He gave an interview (here and here).

He sat in the front row of the auditorium.

And even stepped to the scene as one of the hosts.

But the nomination remained the nomination. (((

It is hard to say about David, but his fans were comforted quickly. When The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) posted on its website a list of the new nominees. "Oranges and Sunshine" again is among the favorites and this time has 6 nominations, including almost all the acting awards: Best Film, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Lead Actress (Emily Watson), Best Lead Actor (David Wenham, what a nice surprise!) and Best Supporting Actor (Hugo Weaving). Given the timing of the presence of David and Hugo on the screen, it seems like the question - who is the lead actor? - was resolved with a coin.))) We are pleased that David still got the Lead Part, but we wish a good luck to the whole project team! And let's wait for the happy news from the upcoming ceremonies of AACTA (15 and 31 January)!

KILLING NEWS

Well, "Killing Time" is epic now. An excellent epos.

Despite all the gloomy TV1 channel managed to release all episodes of programs before the end of the year. The TV-series along with his main actor has collected fabulous bunch of reviews and responses, not to mention the viewer's record for the premiere episode. It was loudly hailed by critics as "the best TV series of the year", but the distribution of holiday gifts touched only Richard Cawthorne (Dennis Allen) and Diana Glenn (Denise Fraser), who received well-deserved nominations of AACTA for their parts in the first three episodes. Our warmest congratulations and to this wonderful actors too! And even more hot wishes to academics in the next year not to complain about their memory and to prepare a lot of "little Australian Oscars" for new nominations and awards. And we'll remind them how wonderful it was ...

Read and listen to the interviews of David after the premiere:

David Wenham's killer role, TW WEEK

And let's wait for the DVD .... wait ... Well, we can do it.)))

FUTURES NEWS

Prospects of Wenhamania are unusually bright. As a reward for all tortures of uncertainty, this year began with a star shower of announcements confirmed and simply "floating in the air." After reports on shootings of cartoon film about a girl with a tail (A Cautionary Tail), in which David has a part of the Narrator and his long-awaited debut as a director in the film adaptation of anthology Tim Winton's short stories "The Turning", after all these "chocolate" passion the piece of news Number One is David's part in the resonance television project "Top of the Lake". Oscar-winning Jane Campion ("Piano," "Bright Star") gathered her top team of champions, from Holly Hunter ("Piano") to Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men," "Get Him to the Greek") and Peter Mullan ("Braveheart," "The Last Legion," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"). In the best tradition of the famous lady-director and screenwriter, the action of the mini-series will unfold in a remote corner of New Zealand. Young detective in guise of charming Elisabeth Moss will investigate the mysterious disappearance of a girl in a dark and beautiful country of the local despots.

Announcements are extremely brief and keep silent about the role of David in this intriguing story, but the director is known as a master of sensual genre and we can assume that our leading man will still have to come back to the gym before filming, which will start in February. In addition to these solid news, the Internet promises to David also a main part in the new project of director Paul Cox ("Molokai") - "Force of Destiny", about "an artist who survives a liver transplant and falls in love" and in the potentially television epic about the national hero of Australia - Judge Tony Fitzgerald, the symbol of incorruptible anti-corruption. What project in this brilliant collection will really come true? Hopefully, we won't wait long the answer to this question.

KIDS NEWS

"Kids" news became a good tradition of our updates. Exemplary Daddy, David grabs every opportunity to do something useful for babies. For example, late last year he was among other celebrities calling unsuspecting parents to pay more attention to their kids playing near the water.

"This much": new public service announcements with David.

But the most resonant thing was his participation in the ceremony of The 25th Anniversary ARIA Awards, November 27. On this day the Award for the Best Children's Album went from David's hands to the one of the most popular in English-speaking countries group "The Wiggles", which became famous for its musical programs and songs for kids. The choice of David, who even at the opera has managed NOT to sing, at the role of music award presenter was still not random. A list of the many advantages of our hero is crowned with two circumstances that were decisive: "David is the father of two daughters and knows all the words to Hot Potato." David's intrigued fans held a small internet investigation and found out that they also now know all the words to "Hot potato":

The ceremony itself had a huge success and aroused a storm of positive emotions among the viewers and the participants. That's how it looked on the stage.

And how it was behind the scenes.

Our comment can be only like this :))))))))

AND, FINALLY, HOLIDAY NEWS

Ohhh .... Wenhamania is wiping heavy sweat. This update cost huge efforts! And both for us and for David! ))) Process is pleasant, we must say, but it's time to recall that we are in the midst of our favorite winter holidays now.

We all know that David loves to rest as much as he loves to work. And he can do it as well.

Cultural rest:

David and Peter Morrissey at the one man show of Al Pacino at The Lyric Theatre, Sydney, November 18.

And home-felt rest. In the pub with the friends.

At this time in his own pub! According to press reports, now David is one of the owners of the cozy Sydney pub called "The Local bar." The list of his business partners - the Australian film and sports stars - his longtime friend Sam Neill and former rugby players - Phil Waugh and George Gregan and his wife Erica. It is reported that this nice corner looks like a place " where locals can chitchat about love, business or sport into the wee hours, or sip amaro on ice while friendly bar staff chat about the scene." .... Oh, how tempting it sounds! Even though they didn't write that Diver Dan would come out to the visitors in a kerchief tied around his neck to make his brand of coffee ...

Well, it's right here... Young Line, Nyutral Bay, Sydney ....

It is difficult to say how often David will drop in on this bar, but it is obvious that very soon it will become a place of pilgrimage. Because, as Sam Clemens said "It doesn't matter who it is: male or female, young or old, caffe` latte or VB Ц Everybody Loves David." God knows this is not news, but absolutely true! )))

ONCE AGAIN HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MERRY CHRISTMAS, DEAR DAVID'S FANS!!!
